Default OS30 pullstart removal

Hi.

I have an OS MAX 30 pullstart version, which I got cheap but I want to use a starter box.

Does anyone know if there is a blanking plate available for this version (the rear of engine is different to the non-pullstart version)? If not, can I remove the pullstart just to leave the shaft protruding or will dirt etc. get inside the motor?

I know I could just leave the pullstart on but I want to tidy it up a bit and no point in having it flapping around if I don't use it.

Thanks.

hi, i'm pretty sure they have a none pull start back plate for that motor.
i just did it on my sirio .27. all you have to do is get the back plate, take the crank shaft out ,cut the pin that for pull start shaft and put it back and u r done.

That link didnt work for me... Here is the OS backplate cover for the non-pullstart version:

I am pretty sure you need to get the non-pullstart crankshaft also. Since the pullstart crankshaft is made to be spun by a pullstart, it wont fit with the non-pullstart backplate on.

If you go on the OS website there is a PDF document of the engine. It shows an exploded view of each engine type and the crank on each one is the same apart from a tiny connector for the pull start adaptor. Hopefully this will not interefere with the cover plate. If it does it can be lopped off

http://osengines.com/manuals/index.html

I need OS part number 23927000 (as detailed in lax195's post). Then the rest should be simple. After the pullstart is taken off removing the three bolts, I need to remove the one way bearing, then remove the four bolts holding on the rear adaptor, then remove the starting shaft, then fit the cover plate.

Thanks for your advice guys.

Just be careful knotching off a part of your crankshaft... You dont want an unbalanced crankshaft spinning at 35,000+ rpms
