Thunder tiger ST-1
#6426

Im getting rid of my ST-1 after this weekend last week o the poitns series. I am second and will finish that way unless the ST-1 craps out. Comes wirh a bunp box since I am too lazy to reinstall a pull start, going for very cheap if anyone wants.
Had an ok season with the truggy, I wish it turned better, even with th emods and awesome servo it doesn't turn like the newer ones, but what can ya do, I made do with what I had.

I was thinking about using a vented clutch bell and could find the ones made from CEN and OFNA. Can anybody tell me if they are the same pitch as the ST-1?

No they are not. You would have to get new springs and clutch nut. Stock clutch bell should still work. I'm using these on my rc8t and actually kinda like them compared to the ones I posted cuz they are easy to get on and off. I'm gonna get the hard version next time to get some more wear time.

Yes they work well. I have a pair in my ST-1. At first I was worried they won't fit but it worked out ok. The heatsink ones from Thunder Tiger work wel too.

Thanks Joe, how didn't they fit, i have some old "pc boards" for making electronic circuits on and im tempted to make some brakes out of them (they are also fiberglass) i have had HORID results with the stock brakes, never really worked.... [>:] so anythin's an improvement, anyone here have absolutely atrocious problems with the stock radio, mine glitches no matter what i do, almost had the car run away, and it was near impossible to drive on our backyard track. When i take it to a field with power lines in a 30' vicinity (up) the car is almost impossible to drive [:'(]

Was using the OFNA 12T and it works fine. Was too low gearing for my tastes however, and wasn't vented.
I'm trying to decide on clutch shoes to buy! Might go dynamite max life if they'll work. Guess I need springs too.

Calvino the stock breaks are awesome, I can lock up te tires in any situation, probably you need a radio with endpoints to make sure it is pulling hard enough.

Besides the Saxton mod, throwing away the rtr radio/receiver is the best upgrade that you can do for the ST1. I installed a Spektrum dx2.0 on mine and the difference in response time/connectivity is night and day...I bought this car for the woman and even she can feel the difference. The brakes sucked when I first took it out of the box but with a few linkage/collar adjustments, all is good...so you might want to check that.
The ST1 is a BLAST to bash with...here are the changes that I have made to mine and it has been durable and reliable so far:
steering mod
extended wing mount
silicone diff fluid in all diffs
JConcepts wheels & Crimefighters
Spektrum dx2.0 & receiver
rotostart backplate
seal engine & zip-tie all fuel hose connections
alignment - camber was seriously out of whack on all 4 tires when I took it out of the box
I also have a Hitec 985MG to install for steering and Jammin' Big Bore shocks on the way, and I'll call it a day.

i see the st-1 board is still alive and kicking. which is good, lets me know the st-1 isn't going anywhere soon. my st-1 is still kinda dirty from racing a couple months ago. didn't get to race as much as i wanted this year, got laid off. but i have a new job, and i think i'm going to get another motor for the st-1 over the winter to have for next season. maybe a .28, i already have a nice .21 for it by Werks.

Alright, just put in an order to amain for $220 worth of parts and stuff for spares/replacements.
I did order a pair of the TT aluminum clutch shoes, as after about 7 hours of research into clutches, I didn't wanna wing it and have something stupid like the clutch nut not fit. >< I almost went with the dynamite max clutch shoes (different spring type than the stock TTR ones), but couldn't find anyone's setups with which nut/springs to use or if they'll even fit in the HPI bell I'm using. I assume so, but maybe next time. Any comments on the aluminum clutch shoes?
I'll post some pics up soon! She's so dirty right now, you can't even really tell what color the truggy is... lol

Just running the stock .28 that came with the rtr. When it goes, I'll probably go with either an LRP .28 spec 3 or Jammin jpx21/.28. laters

How much longer is the Pro chassis than the RTR chassis? Is it worth while to pick up the pro chassis?
What other parts would be required to upgrade to the pro chassis if it is in fact longer?
