14T vented bell. Stock clutch.

I noticed this with my first st-1!! Guess they need to do a better soldering job or solder them in a stronger area and glue the wire like JR servos.

hrmmm, it wasnt the solder though it was the wire just above where it meets the board. Both of them ...

So I got bored last night at 1am and decided to tear down my entire engine and port it!!! LOL

So it's my first time, but I think the results are going to be awesome. I ported channels on each transfer port and took the bottom edge off, took the edge off the boost port, polished exhaust port and rounded the bottom of the sleeve a bit more. Overall I think I did a pretty good job considering all I had was a dremel disk for the drill and some 600grit sandpaper. Not bad for about 2 hours worth of work inc. tear/rebuild. I totally forgot to take pics of my first mod tho! Oh well, next time I tear it down I'll post some pics for you guys. I'm a modder by heart, just never done it to an engine, but it was cake. I guess this really does set my engine dilemma into stone now... Going with a JPX .28 just so it'll handle the mods!

Will let you know the performance increase this weekend. I didn't have time to port the crank for timing, so that'll be for the next night I'm bored, lol.

So I had a chance to run and tune my newly ported stocker today. I had to lean out the bottom a bit and richen the top end since the mod. Makes sense from the porting changes. Wow this stock engine is pretty impressive for what it is. Running 25%, 5/20/5, 2035, 50k, 14t and bowties, and I can easily light up all 4 tires off the line (on hard or soft packed dirt) to about 1/2 top speed. These new bowties are already 1/4 worn out from all the spinning she does, lol. Donughts are amazing too. Can't quite get the front wheels off the ground on the pavement, but it easily gets the suspension fully maxed to the top. Glad I did the quick port job, though without changing your timing and modding the crank, you won't notice a huge difference; just a slight difference.

Anyways, ttyl guys!

So I decided I want to run my stock TTR .28 to the ground to give me an excuse to pick up a [link=http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/1_23_79/products_id/25257]Novarossi Plus .28 3 port Rotostart[/link] . I really wanted the Jammin .28 but didn't want to haul around my starter box for bashing. Any of you guys have suggestions as to what pipe to get for it? I'm thinking a top-end pipe since its a .28 3-port. Thanks

one more question...does anybody make a quick change motor mount for ST1's?

Is anyone out there using a starter box with their ST-1? The motor mounts are just too tall for my chrome top OFNA box... Sux because I just blew up my roto start while bashing.

Anyone know which brand of motor mounts work? I'll use the smaller mounts for the stocker as well as the JPX .28 when I get it.

Nice pic! You'll like the 2035. Get 'er tuned.

The spacing for the fly wheel is wide enough... The flywheel is too high off the frame it seems, and I have to push REALLY hard on the truck just to get it to barley touch the starter box wheel. I opened up the starter box and loosened the wheel to see if I could make it taller, but nope. Anyone have any ideas? Are you guys having to push REALLY hard on the truck to even get it to hit the bump box wheel? (The wheel isn't worn btw)

I think my roto-start broke when bashing on the weekend because the OWB went, must have caught on the shaft, and was spinning the roto gear. That in turn caused the smaller gear to bind on the metal ring it's sitting in which holds it together, and it completely flew apart... So now I gotta figure out a way how to seal it all up, buy a whole new roto-start or else buy a regular backplate and just bumpstart it. So lame.

Put a bigger flywheel on there I was using the ofna 35 mm I think and never had a problem. Also make sure your starter box wheel is not worn out

Wow that chassis looks impressive.
I have the same problem with my LRP because it has a pull start. I had to raise the engine slightly so the starter box doesnt touch the flywheel at all. Does anyone know what size the largest flywheel available is?

OOH MY GOSH, is this pipe a 'wakeup" for the engine or what!, its 60* ish weather, kept the engine on factory specs, WOW its amazingly powerfull, barely tweaked the HSN and LSN, was goin great, i made one mistake, forgot to tighten down the glow plug , so the engine got to much air in, and stalled out over a jump, now the engine won't start, well, will give it a shot tomorrow [&:]
