My son and I have been racing our ST-1's for 5 weeks now and they have performed very well. Our track is a sandy loam and the ST-1's seem to get better traction than the other truggies and corner better. In fact my sons truck hasn't lost a race or qualifier yet. Both are powered by Picco 27's and are mostly stock otherwise. Here are some pictures. Hope you like them.

I have raced at our local track and for the first time I placed second in the A main. I know that this truck is better than many others out there. But I have the stock motor in and I have noticed that it is very sluggish from a stop or low speeds. What is everyones rec. Also our heat races are 7 minutes in length. I barely make it to the end. Any suggestions.
Thanks

well you wont make it with a picco 28. i get like 5 1/2 on a lean day i hate this motor for that one resone it likes to drink alot. well motors motors hmm novarossi p5 getts good run time and good power. i have heard good thinks about the new ninja motors from mugen. picco p7 those are 21s witch will be better run times. but if your not made of money or dont want to spend a ton of dough on a motor you cant go roung with the mach 26 or 28 they get good run time and power. there by far the best bang for your buck. thats my 2 cents.but i have a freind that is running a picco 26 and it getts great run times to.
and nitro nice pant jobs i like them

We are running Picco 27's and burn just over 1/2 a tank after a 5 min. qualifier. Two guys at our track are running Picco 28 turbo plug engines and their run times are about the same.

I have been running my S3 for over a year, successfully. I have alot of the option parts and all. Will I be able to swap my option parts to the ST-1 or are the designs too different? I havent seen an ST1 in person. Im the only TTR driver at the tracks I go to.

do you know if a stock st-1 can beat the new traxxas revo 3.3 in a drag race on asphalt?. if not what about if i put in the 2 speed in the st-1?
also if a revo with a .23 rb in engine in it and the st-1 had the 2 speed and good engine in it would it beat the revo on a drag race on asphalt?
your help would be great , just thinking on getting a st-1 but i only drag race with other trucks

Hey dudes. I've had my ST-1 for almost a year now, and I'm quite happy with it. I just got the disc rims and noticed that they had a much wider offset, so it will be interesting to see how it runs with those new rims. I'm thinking of getting a 2-speed gearbox... Has anyone tried it ? Big difference ?

One of the guys at our track tried the 2 speed. It made a huge difference in straight line acceleration but caused the truck to push badly in the corners on the race track. Having a 2 speed and still retaining the center diff would be the best of both worlds.

never gonna race it....go 2 speed....
if going to race it...under most "Sanctions" wont allow it...
do not get it if considering racing it....
with 2 speed will push like crazy...
if you just wanna go fast in a straight line? it's cool.....and just bashing around....
but under race conditions it's almost "Useless"....

SWEEEEET RIDES MAN!!! I Love the paint jobs, I just got mine four days ago, it came clear, Ive since painted it. I haven't driven it yet, but I have seen it run, they go great. I bought it second hand for a great deal. I got an extra motor, Surefire .32, a box of parts, mostly new, 2 sets of tires and wheels. and a great price!

The offset wheels are the way to go. Also, look into getting some aluminum upgrades. I recommend the front brace (rear trans), the rear brace (rear/front trans), upper suspension plate (will remove slop), and steering ackerman. Fortunatley, TTR parts are not that expensive. Trust me, I understand that this hobby can get very expensive. The best place to shop for TTR parts is www.amainhobbies.com. Click on the parts/hop ups and go to ST-1. Also, many of the buggy parts work with the ST-1. These are the general recommendations that you would find on any TTR ST-1 forum. I am not an expert, just a person who enjoys the hobby and is willing to learn. Hope this helps. Oh yea, www.acehobby.com has a good ST-1 forum.
