The rtr radio gear is actually pretty good, its a bit plasticy but is digital and has loads of options. I would still recommend going 2.4ghz though, they are excellent, i can vouch for the futaba faast system as i have the 3gr 2.4ghz its easy to use and i have just bought a second reciever for my new crt.5. The rtr has pretty good non digital servos, obviously not up to top $ servos but some of the best you will find in a rtr. If you can afford the higher start up cost buy the FRE kit i would deffinately take that route, otherwise the rtr will serve you well and you can upgrade as you go along.

Great pic!

Are you running some extended hex adapters? Your truck seems wider than mine and how come on the this [link=http://www.all-dahl.com/images/edahl_6.jpg]pic[/link] your front wheels and tires looks smaller than the back? hmm.. I guess my eyes are just playing jokes on me again.. Anyway, I really like your setup.

In that pic I was running Mugen MBX5T 1/2" offset Hubs which make the truck REALLY wide. Can run zero offset wheels when I put those hubs on.

Optical illusion on the tire size thing. I think the back tire is just strarting to spin up and balloon a bit. A pic of the same day goin' away....

alright well i call my lhs and i ask the dude do u guys have cen matrix tr in stock he says not right now im like aight when he says few weeks so he says why do u want one of those. im like dont feel like payn an arm and a leg for a losi and im new to the truggys he says i wouldn't even bother with the cen go all out for the losi. its far better then the cen is the only reason ppl are buying the cen is because it look cool but its really a p.o.s so what do u guys think is this dude for real hes like i promise you u get a cen u will hate it u get this losi u will love it and he says just to convince u ill drop the price of the 8ight t for u too the cen was 579 and the losi was 619 he said ill give it to u for the 579. so should i go for it and say screw it ? mind u im buying the rtr. what do u guys think ?

I heard similar story about a guy trying to buy a Mugen or a Losi but the hobby shop didn't have any in stock at the time.. The store manager apperently told the customer that the LSP and the XTM which they have in stock are way better than those 2 he been wanting to get and that the LSP and Mammoth XTM have better build quality that no Mugen or Losi could ever match.

He then went online and bought a Cen Matrix TR.

The LHS guy is obviously trying to push one product over another, his comments about the CEN aren't fair, or correct. HOWEVER, the Losi is the slightly better vehicle (if you get on with it's driving style) and the Losi RTR comes with a DSM radio and very good engine, which is a MAJOR selling point. If he's offering both for the same price, it has to be the Losi.

By the way, my first and only truggy...my XT8...

$579 is a lot of money man, you can get the Matrix TR Arena off a mainhobbies for $450 shipped. Then minus the $25 discount code, you could get it for $430 shipped. BTW man, get the Matrix TR, trust me.

Ofna Chrome Top, but you will have to get rid of the pull starter because CEN has added a 6 or so mm riser to accommodate the pull start. That makes it very hard for the starter box to start it. With the riser gone, I think that there shouldn't be a problem.
Also rhino, if you haven't made an account at truggyracers, I highly recommend so. They have a lot of info on the Matrix TR. Helped me out a lot.
