Not much, lighter, looks alot better, and may stiffen it up a bit.

Carbon fibre is not used a whole hell of a lot on truggies and buggies, as it has a tendency to snap or fray rather than flex like plastic, or hold like aluminium. Carbon is the domain of on-road cars. Having said that, I have an XB8 which is carbon where most are alumium and it has saved some weight and so far no durability issues. I get the impression that if a chassis brace was to bend, I'd find little bits of carbon fibre everywhere. Its not something I will look into for the XT8 at all. I was quite stunned how light the ally is on the new Xray.

Well, put it this way, if you crashed severely enough to bend something, then obviously that's gonna cost you, but if you have carbon fibre parts, they are also very likely to break in such a crash, where aluminum might have held up, just increases the cost of the repair. It's like when you crash a real car, the metal bends, but even though the door perhaps didn't suffer an impact, the window breaks cos of the twisting forces. Carbon doesn't flex very well in short thick pieces. It's the difference between say, replacing a chassis, a bulkhead and a couple of pins, or replacing a chassis, a bulkhead, a couple of pins, a radio plate, a top plate, etc. etc

If there is a CNC aluminium part available, I'd go for that.

well last race day, i crashed and completely destroyed my aluminum upper deck, but thats a long story about how it happened. (it has to do with the battery falling out of the truck) so i put on the carbon fiber one. also i noticed that many other buggys and truggys have the carbon fiber upper deck. the only difference is that the hellfire's is a one piece. if i were to nose dive real bad, would it break?
