Which motor for best torque?
I am looking at getting either a LRP.28, PICCO.28 or maybe a OS.28 but want to stay under 180.00. I am looking for one that would give me the most torque down low. What do you guys think between these 3. If you know of others in that price range let me know. I am not interested in Axial, Xtm, Mach or SH because I already either have or have had them and want something different to put in my hyper st pro or my Caster K8T I have on the way.
Also Would a JP-1 pipe help out too for torque?

I wouls say the picco 28, it has almost 2HP on the dyno stock.
if you're trying to stay under $180.00 then you might want to take off the OS 28, because its like $330 the picco you can get for like $190 or so.

The Picco .28 pullstart has different timing. The jammin and picco ,28 truggy motor's are both the same. I am pretty sure they are the same powerwise. If anything the jammin/picco has a better powerband.

I have an LRP in my 8ight at it rips,
Unlucky gets his Jammin today for his 8ight, so we will be able to compare the two engines, we will try to post some vids put
LRP from tower is like 178 -25or20 coupon
Picco is about the same little more expensive,

I am going to go with a bumpstart version. BTW why would they put different timing just for a pullstart?

I think the revs are diffrent on the pullstart version because of the added drag the pull start adds the crank
Nothing mechanicly diffrent, just a bigger load on the motor.. I could be wrong but that seems to make the most sense
Same thing on the LRP .28 truggy version and pull start version... exactly the same mechanicly but diffrent specs for the revs cause of the pullstart

I have both the LRP and the Jammin. I have the LRP in my ST-1 and the Jammin in my XT8. You can find both of them for under 200.00 without looking very hard. The RC Shack has the LRP for 160.00. Both are very fast the Jammin has the better low end torque between the two. You can't go wrong with either of them.

RE: Which motor for best torque?
How much does it run for a piston and sleeve for these two motors to rebuild? My axial .28 motors are not that bad at about 50-60 bucks. The SH motors I have been using also till they die because I have been to cheap until now to get a better motor are only 35 bucks for them. I run every week almost 2-3 times a week with my truggies and do run some fuel through them and do not want a motor that cost a ton to rebuild compared to a new one. That is why I have been using the SH motors alot.

I would not be worried about rebuilding the picco .28. They are long lasting motors. BTW rebuilding a motor usually is not worth it anyway, in order to do a proper rebuild you need to replace the bearings, o-rings, rod,p/s. In the end it is usually just better to buy a new motor.

That's weird because a lot of people in my area always rebuild there motors and have been fine with just the piston and sleeve. Just rebuilt my SH.28 in my monsoon for 35.00. I have not had a problem with not replacing the bearings so far.

RE: Which motor for best torque?
Did you inspect your bearings? like role them when the crankshaft was out and check for any play? How many gallons did you replace the Piston and sleeve at anyway? Most people don't think about the bearings, but you would be surprised how it can damage the motor, consider the play in the crankshaft and the extra wear on the crankcase itself and the rod.
You might as well replace them anyway every rebuild they aren't expensive. If you get some nice TKO ceramic bearings (about $22 but WELL worth it) it will actually give you more power and it has been proven on dyno.

RE: Which motor for best torque?
Yes I do inspect them for play and check rod bearing clearance. I am a motorcycle tech and build motors all day long so I know about that stuff and so far I have been lucky. Yes it is good to replace them but you know how technicians are... "if it is there's and not a customers then lets leave it in if it looks good" nobody can complain but myself if it blows LOL!

RE: Which motor for best torque?
Not saying I am a professional because motorcycle motors and RC motors and not exactly the same, just that I do know about checking stuff like that in a motor. I just like to squeeze every minute out of my motors as possible. Some people run motors for just a season and that is it, I would like my motors to last longer than that even if I have to rebuild them a couple of times.
