Something I always overlook when looking for a motor is gas mileage. If you plan on racing, gas mileage will come into play in a long Main. A good .21 will move a truggy very well and do it with few pit stops (assuming it's tuned well).

i ran a modded 528xr in a hyper st pro and liked it alot! ive got video even!

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...14099902&hl=en

i had a ninja 28 and wasnt that impressed, notice im running a 528? lol.. it could have been a ninja 28! i had them both at the same time, and i ran them both in the same truck, i prefer the 528. the ninja just wasnt as reliable as the 528, and the whole plug thing is just stupid! power was similar, but i liked the way the 528 felt.

Do you have any rules that would limit you in engine size? I am going to run the OS 21 V-spec. It has plenty of power.

Since this is your first experience racing, I would recommend the LRP Z.28R. This is a great motor to start with and you can make adjustments if you want after you run this engine for a while. You do not want to break the bank to find out you dislike an engine. It will be more than enough engine.

for racing i highly recommend either a novarossi P5XS or an OS Vspec

what i have been running and what is simply killer is the EB pipe coupled to a OS Vspec! i brought mine from here: [link=http://www.rccompound.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=EBpipe]RC COMPOUND EB PIPE[/link]

coupled together produces a great bottom and a smooth transition from mid to top.

If you got the money the OS .21 Vspec is bloody good. Put 20 litres through mine till its airfilter came off[][]... Was still screaming till that point and has so much donk it will easily power a heavy truggy, with better fuel economy that a big block.

I recommend the O.S. .28 XZ! Torque, Speed, STUPID POWER! Kinda pricey but worth every penny. I run it in my ST-RR. Very easy to tune, and STAYS TUNED! Great engine...Period. I run a Novarossi in my MP777. The O.S. has far less "Drama" than the Novarossi. IMHO

This guy said it all. If you're just getting into racing there's no reason to get a insanely powerful engine. You need to first learn how to drive before you're worried about going fast. Once you learn how to drive on your track well enough then you should worry about adding more power but more than likely the most of the engines listed above would be too much power for you and un-controllable(Spelling?). So you should look into that LRP Z.28R or even a Losi Mach 427 or just stick with the engine your running now and pratice driving until it dies or you really need more power.
