Default Setting throttle/brake linkage

I seem to run into this problem a lot latetly. This is happening on both my revo and now this GS SUT truggy i just built.

I either get full throttle and full closing of the carb or i get good brakes. This is the same on my revo. I get full carb control but theres just no power to the brakes.

I frig with the adjustment but i can never get the best of both worlds.

Does anyone have a "how to setup linkage like a pro" thread or just a few tips to get me started?

Have you tried setting your idle screw?

That keeps the carb open when you hit the brakes.

If its a stock traxxas servo, its a bad servo,
I've had 3 traxxas servos go out on the throttle of a revo..
servos would:
A. Just spin out in one direction and never return
B. Would spin farther in one direction vs the other
C. Loose torque so the brakes didnt work

i think the revo problem is definitly me needing a new servo.

the truggy on the other hand has a decent servo, but not high torque. Its getting a bit better now i just set the servo to get the brakes to work half azzed and the throttle is perfect.

I think im just using crappy servos and i need to buy some hs645 high torque servos for in there

Why not try to replace the servo with something different, just to try it out, and if it works, buy a new servo for it.

Would save you $80 if it wasn't the servo. :P

what radio are you running? nicer radios allow you to set the end points, that solves the problem.

sounds like you need to set idle screw, servo should never close carb. also set you brakes first, then adjust the throttle stop on the other end of the arm, set screw i think. then you tighten the spring in the front of the bar to be sure to close the carb at neutral. with a new servo it should be fine. i ran the 620 today on buggy and truggy, braking was good on the truggy and i had to kick it down a notch on the buggy. i'll probably throw in the metal gears though when they go bad, they are pretty quick too, i was impressed.

the spring in front of the bar u speak of. im getting carb movement when I hit the brake from neutral position meaning my idle will drop and raise when I apply the brakes. tightening this spring will fix this issue?
