Carb Trouble cost me the race.
I am having carb trouble that i cant fix and am wondering if anyone can steer me in the right direction. Everything on my truggy was cleaned and rebuilt fot the umptenth time for our show and shine event at my racetrack this weekend. I crashed a few good times as I went to another track to run my trug in and see if everything was tight, only to find that my carb wiggles, either with the servo moving it (JR 270), or with my fingers. It moves ever so slightly, but enough to really notice it moving, and cause my engine to run eraticlly or not at all. The crank case looks perfect, the carb looks perfect, other than a tiny scratch on the crank side barrel. To tiny to be a crack, and to tiny to cause this wobble. The carb is as tight as it needs to be for normal operation, tries to tighten it even more to get the wobble out of it didn't help either. So, no matter how tight or loose, it wiggles, and no matter how extreme of an angle i tried to put the carb on, just to try to get the wiggle out, it still wiggled. Please help me fix this, thanks.

ummmmm... if your carb is like the "GO" range of motors.... pull the carb out.... the bit that goes into the crank case is actually a sleeve and can undo... if thats the case put some JB weld in the little bugger and it should be sorted

just take the carb back off and apply a little high temp gasket sealant around the neck of the carb itself and slip back on , then position the carb the way you need it and tighten down . it wont move anymore and will be airtight<no leaks>!

if the carb is a 1 peice...meaning no insulator on the base of the carb...and its still wiggling...then the pinch bolt isnt tight enuff.....u might have to shave a bit off the pinch bolt to get it to Bite more.......i cant perticularly remember what motor i did that to...but it definatly needed it....maby a SH or something....take the carb off and look into the motor...see if the pinch bolt will Tighten down smalller then the diameter of the carb...if not then u need to shave it down...then it should grap it good.

not really understanding what to shave down. The curve part that grabs the carb barrel? Wouldn't that make it more apt to loosen? Should I look at getting another new carb? Or take the easy way out, all be it the expensive way, and just get a new mill?

if u shave down the angled side of the pinch bolt evenly on both sides it will pinch the neck more when u tighten the screw...this is only if the pinch bolt is the issue....u dont shave the actual angle part...ur taking material off to make those 2 peices closer together..so it can grab better....its kinda hard to explain.

Sensor safe RTV, nothing more.
I don't really care for it, either.
The stuff I got will degrade when exposed to fuel.
NOT HAPPY.
3 Bond is $$$$$, so I'm just sticking with good ol' OS engineering.
My Speed and my XZ are both tight as a drum, no sealant necessary.

RE: Carb Trouble cost me the race.
I forgot to mention that I had the bearings replaced in my XZ. (RB Mods)
My Speed motor gets a little wet at the front after a full race day, but not too bad.
I suspect the front bearing in it is a single seal junker like they use on everything else.
If that's the only problem I have out of my Speed motor, I'm EXTREMELY happy.
These motors go ballistic after a couple gallons.
I'm putting my Speed in my truggy and getting a blue head V Spec for my buggy.
I just put a blue head in my Son's 8ight buggy.
I really like the power, but I figure once it gets a few gallons on it, he won't be able to handle it.
All in all, I'm impressed by the OS power and reliability.
I don't see myself buying a different brand engine anytime in the near future.
Not even one of these monster Picco's you speak of.......(well, maybe for my truggy..)

yup, the carb finally cracked all the way down. just a hairline. How does this happen?

it seems that a hard hit in that area is unlikely, so you think i just torqued her to much?
