Default motor backing plate

Do I "have" to put a motor backing plate on the back of my rtr 8t to use a bump box?(other than changing to short motor stands)

yes you need this one.

no you do not
problem is with the one piece mount it sits lower and has added support on the back so the backplate for the spinstart doesn't clear and it shouldn't be shimmed as much as it needs to. It's much better having the motor sit on a long piece of aluminum then tiny washers.
