I think the paper method leaves too much play. IMO

How much play should there be in a cluth bell? None at all or a little bit? Thanks

I just hold the spur and tip the clutch bell back and forth, until i'm happy with the clash then I roll the car on the floor and see if everything rolls smooth.

ok he asked about the play in the clutch....meaning end bell clearance im assuming....not how tight the mesh should be.....the end play on the bell should be betweeen .3 and .4 imo the only way to accomplish this is to use the Kyosho kit and lock the bell up...then u can start to remove the appropriate #'s of shims to get the end play to around 3 or 4....the Ofna 5x8's are great for taking up space while the kyosho's are more for the fine tuning aspect.

I know this if off topic, but icant get any help in any other forums on RCU. My buddy has a hyper 7 with a hyper 21 in it. He took this motor apart and him being a noob, aparently lost the head shims. Does this motor have head shims to begin with? If so, can you tell me what thickness they could be?

I like to use ceramics for clutch bearings, They seem to take the heat better and dont cook the grease (you dont want to oil your clutch bearings..for obvious reasons). Proper end play is also essential for clutch bearings..Metal expands when hot, so if you set your clutch bell with no end play when it gets hot it will bind not only destroying your bearings it can also damage carbon clutches, bogs your motor..not good..I have always been told 1 to 2 mm of play.

its .3-.4mm of play.....1-2mm is way too much.
