Default WHATS THE BEST BRUSHLESS CONVERSION??

I am thinking about doing a brushless conversion on my Losi 8ight T. What would be the best combo of speed and run time? Team Losi has two systems for the 8ight T.

Imo the monster max 2200kv motor/esc combo with a losi conversion kit is the way to go .

What is the faster motor a 1700Kv or 2200Kv. I am not looking for blistering fast, just not any slower than it is with the 427.

2200kV is faster. The higher the kV the faster the motor. But the faster the motor, the less torque you get. Not gonna be a huge drop in torque between the two though. If it were me, I'd go with the 1700kV and run a 5S lipo. That should gaurantee a cool running motor/esc while still providing plenty of speed.

1700kV equates to 1700 RPMs per volt. A 5S lipo is equal to 18.5V... so 18.5 x 1700 = 31,450 RPMs. A typical nitro motor runs around 35,000 I think. Race motors run in the low 40s at full speed.

The 2200kV motor on 5S would equal 40,700 RPM. That's in race motor territory, but you'll be running a little hotter. I couldn't tell you if you'd have issues with the ESC thermalling though.

the esc runs fine with a 5s and the 2200kv motor most the time the esc fan is off .

A MMM 2200kV combo can flip a 1/8 MT from a standstill on 4s, so I wouldn't worry about lack of torque in a much lighter truggy.

I have several Hobbywing EZRun setups, a 60A, 80A, and 150A. For a 1/8 truggy, either the 80A or 150A with the SL3674 2350kV motor will work great. I run mine on 3s and it's plenty fast. On 4s, it gets squirrelly when I hit full throttle too hard. It's a much lower cost setup. Top speed is about 42-45mph. Temps on both the motor and ESC stayed cool to barely warm. The ESC stayed around 80-85F, the motor about 95F. If you can afford the MMM, that's great. I needed to equip 3 trucks with BL systems, so I needed a lower cost setup that still performed really well. I was not disappointed with the EZRuns.

For a motor mount, RCM's mounts are FTW!
