RE: OFFICIAL RAZE ST OWNERS THREAD
well.. I look at it this way.. I've already done couple of warranty work with duratrax on my RT-X. and I'll tell you nothing beats their customer service.
they send you an email telling you they received the broken parts and send out replacements.
there's 3 year warranty on the engine.. what can you possibly ask for more?

RE: OFFICIAL RAZE ST OWNERS THREAD
Well i found out what was wrong, The engine is running and pretty much broke in, scratch and all! there is a lot of clanking and clicking in this engine called the tech support people and they said that its the type of engine and that its got something to do with the starter used. OH WELL. Other then that im having a blast with this thing, put about 10 tanks thru her and shes getting pretty fast. I did blow a glow plug thanks to my 3 year old who turned up the heat on the plug dial in my field box. Oh i did hit a mailbox head on at full speed and bent the aluminum shock tower, but it can be bent back i think. AND the front left wheel fell off because i forgot to check them. Found the 17mm nut put it back on and check all the other ones found a few loose. Its strange tho that they dont include a wrench for the glow plug or the wheels. On the note of the servos i find the one that is used for steering to be quite good and strong, i can sit it on the table and move the wheels both ways 100% in the grass it doesnt do to bad either. Throttle servo seems fast. I got to warn u guys tho that breaking in the engine in the beginning this truggy is slow, but does get hella fast the more you lean it out. On the issue of glow plugs what would you guys recommend? I want something cheap and reliable. THANK GOD its not a turbo head. I have been running Byrons 20% Nitro 12% Oil for break in, what do you guys think about that? I also have some odonnells 30% and some Trinity monster 20% 12% castor oil. I think i may try the Trinity next. What do you guys think? How can you tell when fuel is bad? Well i work 3rd shift so ill be back on once i get there lol. until then here are some pics

RE: OFFICIAL RAZE ST OWNERS THREAD
That's very strange they don't include the wrench for the glow plug or wheels....knowing this, will another brand ...ex: something like an associated one...fit the car and be useful? because if it would work then i could just pick one up at my LHS rather than wait a couple more days to order it from Tower.
Great pics by the way, mentat.
Just a little extra tid bit...on Tower, it says that the green raze st is discontinued...the one that i ordered. Wonder if this just means they won't offer the green body style any more or if the whole car is being discontinued...any might know anything about this?

RE: OFFICIAL RAZE ST OWNERS THREAD
For those having the clanking issues and finding out the piston was scratched, did you put after run oil in it first before you tried and start it up? My cousin told me (hes been into rc's for a long time) its always good to put after run oil in the engine and have it well lubed before starting it up for the first time because it will help to lubricate the engine and prevent alot of unnecessary friction....... I will be breaking mine in tomorrow so I'll let you guys know how it goes......

RE: OFFICIAL RAZE ST OWNERS THREAD
Yeah i took apart the engine and oiled it well. I will then seal it after the break in. As far as the WRENCH. any brand will work as long as its a 1/8 scale. Tower sells the wrenches. any 17mm socket will work for the wheels, and the glow plug can be taken care of with a nut driver that fits. just annoying that it didnt come with one. Thanks on the pics. Ill post some more later, And do a step by step on the sealing of the engine. Ill prb replace it once i get some more cash together.

RE: OFFICIAL RAZE ST OWNERS THREAD
mine was shipped out on 4/9.. i should have it by tomorrow. since I litteraly live 2 hours from them.
I kinda wnated to pick up a 2nd raze for spare parts...
parts are still expensive.. was hoping they'd drop prices on their hopup parts. heh.
wonder why they discontinued it? not selling well?
buggy price dropped to 229.. i may have to pick that one up for spare parts..

WOW, so the Raze ST was discontinued today. I wonder why that happened? So all the buggy parts are usable on the Raze ST?

just called Tower Hobbies. They said they only have a little bit left. She said honestly she would not recommend it because Duratrax is discontinuing the model, along with parts. She also said that there have been quite a large amount of problems with the raze. Looks like i'm either getting the MGT 3.0 or HB lightning.

RE: OFFICIAL RAZE ST OWNERS THREAD
Just received my RAZE.. and I'd have to say. it's really dissapointing.. my RTX seemed like it had better build quality than this raze.
sure there's a lot of aluminum, but other things like wheels hubs feel very loose, plastic feels very soft and feeble.
it doesn't even look like the RAZE came from the same manufacturer as the RTX

RE: OFFICIAL RAZE ST OWNERS THREAD
After the coupon and free shipping from tower, we paid about $175 for this truggy. that is so cheap. for that price i don't really know what you guys are expecting. if you made this purchase for anything other than bashing around in a dirt lot, you bought the wrong vehicle. the only thing that could disappoint me at this point is if parts become unavailable..

RE: OFFICIAL RAZE ST OWNERS THREAD
well startire.. it's not really what you paid for.. but original intent of the vehicle manufacture designed it for or I should say marketted it for.
I'm not complaining about price. I used my $50 bucks off $250 order. plus the rebate. that brings down my cost for the truck less than 150.. that's what you pay for K-mart RC cars.. shoot that's less than most RC engines.. lol..
I just wish they make the hopup parts cheaper thats all.. like aluminum hubs front/back and brace. which are almost necessary parts considering I've heard they break quite easily. Just those three parts equal the price of the car!!.

RE: OFFICIAL RAZE ST OWNERS THREAD
I don't know if i just got a good one or what , but i put 4 gals. through mine of bashing & club racing & the only problem i had was the stock steering servo which tower replaced free. It is now on to a new owner & he is happy w/ it as well. Oh yea the stock body breaks real easy so coat the whole inside w/ a layer of shoo goo & it will not break as easy.

RE: OFFICIAL RAZE ST OWNERS THREAD
I doubt Duratrax will discontinue parts for the truck immediately. They have too many of these out there that would disappoint customers if they discontinue parts completely. While Tower's extremely helpful and has great customer service, their sales staff aren't always that well informed.
Regarding the plastic, keep in mind that stiffer plastic breaks easier. Example: one of the first things that break on E-Savages are the axles. We replace the axles with Traxxas axles to reduce the likelihood of future breakages. Are the Traxxas axles stiffer and stronger? No, the opposite...they're softer and thus give more before they break (i.e. they have more elastic deformation before plastic deformation occurs). The softness may help with durability for bashing.
As to why the discontinuation, that often occurs when a new model is expected to be released as having 2 models competing with each other, the older one being lower priced, will bring down sales of the newer model.

RE: OFFICIAL RAZE ST OWNERS THREAD
Well, I decided to sell my brand new Raze ST that I just got last week. I was going to convert it to brushless, but another truck has caught my eye. I do really like the Raze, but I've been eyeing the other truck for a while now and finally found a decent deal on it.
$190 shipped to your door. Completely brand new, opened just to look at.
Email me at [email protected] or PM me on RCU.
Thanks and take care.

RE: OFFICIAL RAZE ST OWNERS THREAD
well I may be buying a rolling chasse just for spare parts.
I took a part and modified the radio box on the car a bit this weekend before even running to accomidate the Lith-Ion 2Cell 2600mah pack for receiver, and BEC.
People at the hobby shop told me that I could practically run a full day on this receiver pack, and much safer than LiPo. Full charge in 2 hours with Triton Jr.
I'm going to remove teh stock radio box for a bigger one,
Just ordered aluminum servo mount posts and front/rear brace from tower, as well a 3PM.. with discount cna't go wrong with FHSS radio. Hopefully this will solve my interference problem.
I'm having a lot of trouble with MuchMore Racing BEC, a lot of interference with the Radio, and ended up using the 4AA batteries for the first tank that I got to run.
Here's my overall impression of the truggy though
-MUCH better servo saver setup. bigger bellcranks mean much more torque needed before servo saver kicks in.
-ball end setups including steering links, are much bigger than RT-X.. meaning more durable, and less play.
-Shocks are definitely in need of new heavier oil. 3 Feet drop bottom's out the truggy.
*****MAJOR ISSUE*****
For those of you who have the Truggy,
When the suspension fully compresses, look at the rear dogbone and Diff joint. You'll notice that at full compression the dogbone twists the diff joint upwards. THERE IS NOT ENOUGH RANGE ON THE JOINTS AND DOGBONE!!
this basically tell me that BOTTOM OUT = death of your diff's or dogbones.
Not sure how I can prevent this other than putting more spacers in the shocks and heavier oil/spring to limit full suspension movement.

Devil,
That battery you got, Lith-Ion 2Cell 2600mah pack for receiver? Who makes it and what is the make and model? I would like to get one. Is it LiPo? I would like a link. Thanks

RE: OFFICIAL RAZE ST OWNERS THREAD
I got it from LHS, tower didn't have Li-Ion pack. Li-Ions have slightly less life. 80% charge at 300+ cycles, but they do discharge to lower voltage. 2.6v is limit before Redux chemical reaction starts killing the cells.
it was 33 bucks, can't remember the brand name right now. and I would NOT go with it again. Better to go with lipo 2S with NOISELESS BEC. Stay far away from SWITCHING BEC. this FM radio is very sensitive switching noise it seems.
My LHS guy told me though LI-Ion packs are safer being that they are sealed. they can take more abuse, which is some what believeable, since LI-Ion packs are used in a lot of the new drills now.
there are online shops that sell individual 18450 Li-Ion cells, and you can build your own pack too.. much cheaper this way.

RE: OFFICIAL RAZE ST OWNERS THREAD
im not sure how good these batteries are, but think most of the batteries you get at LHS are just rebadged of same Made in china batteries anyways.

Most of the listed there have Built in drain/overcharge protection.
