Shock Building Question
 

I got a question, as dumb as it may seem :) ....

When a person builds shocks for their RC car and you are putting the ends on the shock shafts, what is a good way to hold the shafts so not to mark or put gouges on them when tightning the shock ends on?

They make a pliers just for that task but you can wrap the teeth of the pliers with a good amount of duct tape
this should keep your shock shafts from getting scrached

I've used the pliers for that, and haven't had much luck (maybe the type I used isn't great?).

For me, I put the shock shaft in a table-mounted vice, but have a towel/rag around the shaft to protect it. I just don't go nuts on the vice and over-tighten. :) It's a great solution for me, but not everyone has a vice.

I like the duct taped pliers idea.

Hey thanks guys...those look like what I was needing however, after taking a look see on those I have came to the conclusion that my wire strippers I have would work within the same principle...would just have to use the non-sharpened ends or use a old pair and smooth out the cutting edges with a dremel...
I now have the "I should of" thought about that one...lol!
