Need help with electric Truggy Gearing
 

Just wondering what a good starting point for gearing would be for my RC8T. Just running a cheap hobby king motor, its 1900kv 36x75mm size. I have 50t and 46t spurs. And 13, 15 and 16T pinions. What would be a good starting point? Going to be used for bashing with 4s power.

Would be nice if i had some reccomendations on spur gear since its alot harder to change. Also, can I run a steel spur on an electric or will i damage something since there is nothing to give way?

I'd try the 13t at the stat and see how hot the ESC, and motor get.
if its cool, and you are not happy with the speed go up

as for the spur its up to you some of my trucks have steel spurs, some have plastic I've not really hit any issue with them. Only thing I will say is with a steel spur electrics are extremely LOUD.

Stick with the 46t spur gear. If you're going to use it on 4s for bashing, I'd suggest going straight in at 16t. The 13t simply won't give you the speed you'll want for fun bashing on 4s, and I doubt you will have any temperature issues on 4s with that gearing. I'm running 15t on my truggy (converted Mugen MBX5T) on 6S with a 2200kv motor, and temps are manageable, I could probably go to 16t myself, so I'd say you have no worries at 1900kv on 4S going straight for the 16. You may even find you want to gear up even more, 17t or maybe 18t later on. Keep an eye on temps and all should be fine. Knowing what I know now, I wish I'd gone for a motor closer to 2000kv so I had more room for gearing. If I had, I'd probably be running 19 or 20t now.
