Maybe, the MBX5 Prospec that comes with an engine is an OS V-spec though.

Okay, from what I understand there are 3 MBX5T's in the US. 2 of them are at the Nats at the Farm, one is in SoCal in the hands of Stephen Bess, the Editor of RC Car magazine. Saw Stephen run his truck last weekend with the Ninja engine he had previously received and broken in. Zero setup, just winged it. The thing hauled butt. I own a Jammin' and love it, but I think you Mugen boyz are going to be very, very happy. BTW, race ready, full of fuel etc., the truck weighs over a pound less than the Jammin.

You might wanna check the price on these kits at www.myrcsupply.com

standard version 479.00
Prospec version 659.99
free shipping on both

RE: Offical Mugen MBX5T thread

I think this new truck is going to make me sell 3 of my RCs just so I can concentrate on building the ultimate prospec truggy:D Even though the kits are very competitive out the box, I like to buy some upgrades at the same time I buy the kits. So after buying a kit, I have to spend another 200 or more on upgrades:D

Yes, this buggy rocks. I got to see one last week down in california.

Our shop is already taking pre-orders for this buggy. Mugen is only releasing a small number of these to US distributers. We have already clamed ourself a big lot of them, seeing as both the larger mugen distributers are already sold out for the first lot comming in 2 weeks.

The price is 659.99 for the prospec at our shop. That seems to be the avg street price. Im waiting for a return call to find out if another distro will have a lot avalible for this first release. But its not looking good.
You can order online at www.myrcsupply.com or give us a call directly. (Number is listed under contact us on our site)

This truggy is awsome, its so much "beefy'er" than the CRT even from just looking at it. They really put some R&D into this one.. I cant wait to get one.

If anyone has any questions about this truggy, feel free to ask, as i have a book of notes i took from the demo/display down in cali last weekend.

If money isnt the factor, go with the prospec. there are a couple reasons for that.
Since this is a new kit, parts are going to be scarce for the first month, so if you get the standard version, and want to upgrade, you may find it a bit hard to find parts quickly. (our shop does have some parts coming with the kits).

Secondly the parts inlcuded with the prospec are much cheaper in kit form, rather than buying them seperate. I also noticed that the standard version uses some cheap looking braces on the chassis, those are sure to be the first to break. Much like the CRT RTR version.

Once we get these kits, i will do some testing and write up a short review with my findings... But its a MUGEN, what could possably be overlooked, afterall these guys are the athority in race ready buggys and now truggys....

Hope this helps.

what are going to be the main differences between the prospec and the str. any different geometry or it is real similar? what about wt and size?

RE: Offical Mugen MBX5T thread

I read the mugen is almost a pound lighter than the crt. You could find the weight of the crt and kyosho, then subtract almost a pound from the crt and you will come up with a close estimate of the mugen's weight. Look at the two and you can see the difference... i guess http://www.mugenseiki.com/menueefi.htm
