Hyper St RTR engine?

Looking for a ready to run truggy and liking the Hyper ST but know nothing of the included Macstar .28 engine. How does this engine compare to the K4.6 Savage engine? I've found that engine to be very easy to tune and very reliable.

I dont know, but I will be receiving my Hyper ST rtr on Thursday and I cant wait. I have heard and from everything I have found on the engine, it is supposed to be awesome! The only thing I am going to try to do is get rid of the pull start. They can be a serious pain in the ass.

i have one on my hyper 8 rtr . its a pretty decent motor. and yes ditch the pull start and put on a sealed backplate and invest in a good starter box, <i use a ofna chrometop with the big single motor> it will runn more freely with out the pullstart and 1way bearing.another thing about the motor is it will not wake up and run good till it hits about 270-280 degrees. mine ran good and pushed out good smoke at that temp.it also likes 20% and ran like crap with 30% on my eight i have a racing motor that screams at 235-240

stick to the savage K4.6 i had a hyper 7 before, and now run a hyper st rtr. i went through 2 macstar .28 engines. they need tuning top end and low end everytime you start it.
i also found that the heat sink/head kept coming loose and loosing compression. once the head heated up i would need to nip the bolts tight all the time. its such a poor engine.

i now run a k4.6 on my ST and its brilliant. it wipes the floor with anything around it. even buggys.

Funny, everything I have heard or read about the motor is nothing but positive. I broke mine in tonight and it did great. I will post tomorrow when I actually get to do some full throttle runs. So far I am super happy with this truggy. It is still not nearly as nice as my Losi 8ight T though. I think it might be a bit tougher though..............

Is your Losi 8ight T a pro kit or a RTR? You cannot compare a RTR to a Pro kit and is why I only do pro kits.

funny thing is the Mac Star 28 is built in the same facotry as the K 4.6.......... both motors are made by Kingstar motors....

My Losi is a RTR also. I bought it instead of the pro because side by side there are not that many differences. It also comes with a great radio and decent servos. I am sure the pro is better no doubt, but for what I do, both of these truggys will work great for me. I also like to upgrade parts, so when something breaks I will just make it better.
