Tamiya Nitrage
 

Does anyone have this vehicle? A friend of mine wants to buy one and asked me abou it? I have no knowledge of it so I ask you the truggy experts.

From what I've seen I like it, except it does not have a sanctioned engine in it, why would they put a 5.2cc in it? I know it's a rtr, but there are a lot of club racers in the world that do race rtr vehicles, at least thats what they start with, so why not put a 4.6cc (.28) to begin with.

good vehicule that lacks part support. If the LHS of your friend carries the parts for the nitrage then it is not a bad bet.

Looks sick, I like the new design features, but Tamiya are gonna have to shake that 'plastic fantastic' reputation of theirs before I would even consider buying anything except a Frog or Hotshot re-release. To be honest, lets face it folks, it doesn't 'look' like it could hold its own against Mugen, Xray, Jammin, etc. Time will tell...

Part support is a big problem, you have to mail order 90% of it. Back in the 80's when Tamiya was king of RC everyone had parts. Unfotunately that is not the case now, for part support, HPI or Traxxas is your best bet.

On the other hand Tamiya is unigue so if you can wait for parts, it's as good as any other. They have some excellent engineering going for them so they are durable. A friend of mine has the TNX whixh the Nitrage is based on and it's rarely been down for parts.

i have one for sale on here with all available options so far.. only one quart ran... almost $200 in upgrades and spare plugs....
17 mm hub conversion, pro-line velocity rims and crimefighter tires... go check it out, i need the $$$... i lost my job!! lol...

SOmeone came into the LHS where I work part time and had chewed some PLASTIC parts in the tranny...had to wait 10 days to get parts from overseas, said ah what the heck and bought a GS XUT with Spektrum, starter box etc and was a happy chappie. Planned to sell the Nitrage as soon as he had it running again.
By the looks of it the tranny cant handle that engine...:eek:

it will be interesting to see what tamiya do, I would say their main focus at present is the EP worlds coming up in Japan soon, and as we've seen before, tamiya have an ability to produce world class racers, and if they truely wanna have a crack at the 'top' manufacturersin 1/8 GP racing, with a truely 'pro' level racer, I would suggest that they may well succeed, or come very close anyway.

Thanks fro the input guys. By the majority of what I read, looks like Im going to tell him to pass on it. Now let the flood gates open, what truggy do you recommend? Hes on a limited budget, so maybe an RTR to start would be best? Let me know guys. Thanks!

What's the budget? An RTR is only better to start if you have a limited budget. If you have the funds to get a kit, a motor, and radio gear separately, you will save in the long run and have a much better car.

By the way, that's a known issue which is now resolved.
