Cheers, just ordering all my last few bits for a first build!
(Nearly wetting myself with excitement - ITS NEARLY HERE!)

Is it normal that with truggies like the front parts are totally different from the rear parts?? First I went and put the wrong CVD's on, cuz the first ones you put on - the front, just say "universal" in the instructions.. Then I see you have different shocks for front and back even..

Seems like kind of a pain if you end up needing new parts...

I hope not, I have three different brands - one for each diff..

ps Can someone recommend which servo for gas/brakes from A-main, preferably Hitec(or other brand if there's something better for a good price..), and $75 max?? Think I'm gonna go with the 5955 for steering...
Try this servo out for your steering. It has same amount of torque and speed of 5955. I've been using it for a couple of months and it's been great. It is 20 bucks cheaper and also has a 1 year warranty.

This Hitec will work for brake/throttle.

Hitec 5955 bought for steering..

Still need one for gas/brakes...

What's more important for gas/brakes, speed or power?? What's a good stat for each??

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

Well you need about 120 oz/in for throttle/brake and as much speed as you can afford...having a fast servo will allow you to have much finer control over throttle brakes, which gives you better air control, which in turn allows you to control bigger air at higher speeds....... with a fast servo you will more conected to the vehicle response..It also gives you better trigger control over a powerful motor....

I'm running Futaba 9451 in brake/throttle, but they do not sell them anymore. I looked on Amain and Tower. It may be undiscontinued and released under new name.

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

In my Muggy I have a 5625, which previously was on steering actually and was quite OK.. It's now in for gas/brakes, and somehow seems weak.. Yes, that's right - the 5625 on my big heavy Muggy seemed strong enough for steering, but seems weakish for braking..

That may well be a linkage issue though, as I've had a h.ell of a time getting any braking whatsoever out of the Muggy...

The 5625 seems like a good servo though, and has nice stats, and an acceptable price.. So that's prob what I'll get I guess, and keep it all in the (Hitec) family...

What's the next step up though from the 5625 for speed and power??

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

look for a Hitec 945mg (.12 speed 152 torque) or a 965mg (.10 speed 144 torque)

The 900 Hitec series are the best servos Hitec made IMO!

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

I've asked this on a couple extra forums, so sorry if you've already seen it, but for anybody who hasn't, I'd be keen for some input RE engine-choice...

BTW, it's really not yet clear that getting into competitive racing will even be realistic for me - there is no local track, and getting into racing would require considerable travelling...

IOW this HST may well be bashed a bit....

Anyway, having second thoughts about the Mach...

So would be interested to hear some votes RE engine-choice..

1.) Brand new Mach and pipe out of a Muggy..(prob the most sensible, but something is making me want MORE.. Or will the Mach be fast enough?? I suspect it would be, and that I should just stick with it, but the Mach lacks bling factor and bragging rights, which I totally agree is stupid.. But yeah, you know how it is....)

2.) Get something new and crazy like a Ninja 28 or OS 28.. Would require selling the Picco 28 I got for the LST2..

3,) Get something new but not crazy expensive like a bumpstart Picco 28 or Jammin 28(still not cheap, cuz I would need the bumpstart..)

4.) Just use the new ps (to be converted to spin-start) Picco 28 (with Ofna 086) I had intended to use on the LST2

??

Basically I've got two brand new engines - the Mach and the Picco 28, plus one used but well-running Axial 28 Spec 1S all just sitting there.. I'm in no rush to put the Picco in the LST2 cuz the stock engine in it is going great.... Just trying to figure out what to put where...

I could for ex take the Axial 28RR out of my Savage, put it in the Hyper for starters, and the Spec 1S back in the Savage.. Or, sell the Spec 1S( )and put the Mach in the Savage...... Or just put the Spec 1S in the Hyper to try it out.. I don't really want to do a winter break in on a new engine, so will wait for spring to really get the Hyper going..

kinda confusing lol, anyway, I'd get the Ninja 28 for the hyper any day! they say that the OS 28's power it's just stupid so honestly I would go with the Ninja.

BTW, my dad is getting rid of his Hyper ST and going back to buggies, but I'm thinking in buying his roller and drop a Ninja 28 in it [>:]:D

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

patrick im confused aswell..just drop ya picco in there..your only bashing so it dosnt matter..just have fun...

or sell all ya motors and get a ninja or o's..

or sell ya motors and get a quick change motor mount and then use a sts.d30m in both ya trucks...

lol...if ya racing get a good mill...if ya bashing get a middle range mill...i got a sts.d30m rev2 and its mental..i bash and cant keep the power to the ground...im currently running 18 tooth clutch bell and its stupid power..even low end is still insane..the idea of the bigger bell was to try and tame the lower end...nup...awell time to bash

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

I have some doubts that the Picco would have the top end I want.. I want a screamer..

I guess the question is, will the Mach or Picco be enough of a screamer for me??... I'm sure the Picco will be a torque power-house down under, but even with an 086 will it wind out up top as nice as the Mach??

I need help..

Something is wrong.. The front camber is WAY off.. Also, I just noticed that the rear bones are barely in their cups(diff side..) Only thing I can think of is that MAYBE I switched part numbers # 86205 und #86216 - the front and rear arm holder brace thingies...

Would that make this problem??

What else could it be?? The front turnbuckles have 7.5 as per the instructions..

Here, the rear bones..

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

I at least managed to dye the rims and wing right...

You can see the camber though..

Only thing that was a bit weird was that the rear arm pins seem to go in a bit crooked.. But besides those arm brace things, I can't think of what parts it's possible to switch between the front and the rear - except the CVD's... But I did that initially, and the camber was even WORSE...

HELP...

Got it sorted (thanks to a German forum..)

The stupid knuckles were reversed, though there's no L or R indication.. Also had to go re-re-change the CVD's front to back..

Kind of annoying that so many of the parts are not universal - arms, shocks, CVD's, etc...

Here's what she looks like now though..

Diggin' it...

A nice rich blue color sticking up out of the back, say, an OS 28, would be the perfect accent, don't you think??....

Love it!! How did dye the wheels?

HerrSavage 11-25-2007 01:07 PM

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

Thanks.. I think in the States it's called "rit dye"... Also dyed the wing..

Anyway, fill a big pot 2/3 full with water, put a teaspooon of salt in with the dye, bring it to a simmer just short of a boil, and I gave two wheels at a time 15 minutes for a pair... 15 for the wing too..

Also did a bunch of ugly light blue zip-ties while it was there...

Your truggy looks killer.... and a OS 28 would be an excelent engine choice... I think you would be amazed by that OS 28... Your truggy would be absolutely ballistic with that mill.......

HerrSavage 11-25-2007 01:16 PM

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

Thanks.. Engine-wise, I have some thinking to do.. I mean, I have a brand new Mach 427 with pipe, filter, clutch, starter, etc... sitting in a box right here. Plus a Picco 28 for the LST2.. I really do kind of suspect that this rig would rip with the Mach..

But yeah, not as much as with the OS...

We'll see how work goes over the next couple of months..

These kinds of dilemmas are what makes winter fun....

(well, in this weather, "fun" is being generous...)

ps I tell you what though. I paid €145 for the Mach and included stuff. If I could get that back, I would pay the difference for the OS...

The idea of having to pay €100 for a starter-box and bats though bugs me....

Will a stock P3 28 with an 086 give me ANY top end?? I'm not all that set on putting the Picco in the LST2, so putting it in the Hyper or selling it or well within the realm of possibility....

RE: the hyper st PRO thread!

Looks killer Patrick, I have the Pro with the kit pipe and the Picco P3 28 and its balls out wild to run. Talk about a screamer, its a lil too much mill for the Hyper, but thats what makes it so much bloody fun.
