KYOSHO ST- RR BODIES

1 Attachment(s)
Does anyone know which bodies are a good alternative for the stock Kyosho ST-RR bodies? I live in Japan but, the stock ST-RR bodies are still hard to find. Thanks.[:o]

Sorry, I wont be able to help you about the body, but that is a really nice looking set up you have there.

Hows the OS .28 XZ going.?

I love the O.S. .28 XZ Truggy engine! It has performed flawlessly for me. I have about 3 gallons into now, and it seems to be getting stonger! It is a great "all around" engine. I mostly race friends at the local track but, it has stood up to my crazy bashing too. I switched from the O.S. pipe to the Vantage racing pipe. The Vantace Carbon pipe sounds WICKED! It's alot louder than the O.S. but, I like loud. The .28 XZ is the best engine I've ever ran. I still have a special love for my NOVAROSSI in my Inferno MP-777 SP2 though. The O.S. is winning me over though. It's easier to tune than my Nova, and it stays tuned longer.

RE: KYOSHO ST- RR BODIES

Great choice!:D You won't be disappointed! Good Luck! TIP: Before you break in the O.S. .28XZ, DO NOT CHANGE ANY OF THE FACTORY SETTINGS! It is already set up for breaking in.;) My buddy messed with his initial settings befor he started it for the first time, and he had a hard time getting back to where he should have been. I have found that the optimum settings for me (after break-in), is 1 3/4 turns out from closed. Have fun with your new engine! What are you putting it in to?

Into a quite modded up Nitrage.

My stock motor went BOOM at the track on Saturday lol.

Thanks for the tip.

Another question, what percentage of Nitro would be best, and what glow plugs

Thanks :D

RE: KYOSHO ST- RR BODIES

I'm using 30% nitro. That's also what I broke in with. The best plugs (by far) are the O.S. P3 (Very Hot) plugs. Make sure you get the P3! The engine will come with one P3 plug. I recommend changing the stock plug out after you break your engine in. When you are in the break-in process, you have to run really rich. Not good for plug life. Change stock plug before leaning your engine out. Just my oppinion but, it's worked for me. :D

qaiz 01-29-2008 10:34 AM

RE: KYOSHO ST- RR BODIES

Thanks :D

Um 30% is kind of hard to find lol, how about 20% or 25%.?

Ill get like 10 P3's.

Ive heard that this one goes through around 3 - 4 plugs throguh break in

seal 01-29-2008 10:37 AM

RE: KYOSHO ST- RR BODIES

20-25% works just fine! Don't worry about that. Actually, the lower percentage is probably better for break in because it will most likely have more lubrication in it, which is what you need for break in. :)

seal 01-29-2008 10:40 AM

RE: KYOSHO ST- RR BODIES

I don't agree with going through a-lot of plugs for break in... I only used the stock plug, and it lasted for the whole break-in process.

qaiz 01-29-2008 10:52 AM

RE: KYOSHO ST- RR BODIES

What we get here is around 20% - 25% with around 16% lubrication.

Ill pick up the one with the most lubrication I can find.

My old ones probably gone bad.

What break in did ya do, heat cycle or standard.?

I cant wait.!

RE: KYOSHO ST- RR BODIES

Qaiz, how did you manage to blow up your engine? Was it out of tune, user error or just a fluke? You might not want to spend $300 on an Engine that you're not ready for lol. On another note... my retarded self is still using a stock plug in my Mach 427 that I used to break it in with. I'm going to run a new plug now, I hope it doesn't make it too much faster because I think my bottom coil is toast on my glow plug now that I think about it which would throw the detonation timing off? Hmmm...

Ooops got so into the other things in the thread that I forgot to post about the body lol. In my opinion the ST RR stock body is the best looking body out there but pro-line makes the Crowd pleazer for the RR I believe but it doesn't look half as good IMO. I should try to make an RR body fit my Losi 8ight T, I bet that would throw the guys off into thinking that I have an RR when it's actually an 8ight T haha.

RE: KYOSHO ST- RR BODIES

Lol, well its quite a long story.

Heres the short version of it:

Driving at WOT for like 5 seconds, engine revs up real real real high, engine head blew off, the cylinder head SHOT out, and piston disentigrated.

There was nothing left of the piston sleeve.

And there's a major crack down the crankcase.

I handle a V - Spec quite a lot, so im familiar what OS can do :D

RE: KYOSHO ST- RR BODIES

Oh wow lol. Sounds like a good way for an engine to die haha. Are you sure you weren't running a bit too lean?

qaiz 01-29-2008 12:45 PM

RE: KYOSHO ST- RR BODIES

I was running it a bit too rich lol.

Heres some pics, kinda shows how rich I was running it. It used to heat up a lot, just kept running it till it died.

It made the WORST NOISE EVER tho.!

Reckward Tuning makes a nice looking body, Symbio T1, I bought the T2 for my X1 CRT, and can't wait.

That body looks sick! I want one for my 8ight T if they ever make one for it, which I hope for desperately.

BTW WAY OFF TOPIC.....But, No I didn't use the extra shim. It runs so well now that I didn't want to mess with it.

Seal, have PM'd you, concerned member pointed out that I am posting too many questions/facts/opinions on my Nitrage on threads that appropraite for the subject.

***edit***

PM's not going through, "Seal chooses not to enable PM's" or something like that.
