pro or rtr

i am thinking about getting a hyper st, and what i concluded was: that there is the pro and the rtr and that the macstar is complete rubbish. (and yes i know the one from hobby home comes with an sh)
so my question is, would you go for the pro or the rtr??
thanks

Are you just bashing mate? Then i dont see the need to get a pro version, but if your going to do any type of racing i dont see why you cant go for the Pro. I assume your aware that you need to get Engine, pipe, radio equip, servos though.

Pro Pro Pro Pro

I used to run RTR's. Switched to pro's a while back. I prefer Pro's ALL THE WAY.!

Its so much easier, choose your own engine, servos and radio. RTR's normally come with crappy engines, servos and radio ( Except for the Losi's and thats the radio's only ).

I like the freedom of choosing what I want to run.

Tho with the Hyper ST

Both will be fine, I used to race the RTR, and did well in that ( Except last Friday, Couldnt get the damn thing to stop blowing diffs [:@] ). First thing I changed were the servos and radio, threw them on Ebay and went for $20 all in. Whatever, couldnt care less.

IMO Pro all the way, you learn the car, so if anything does go wrong, you know exactly how to get to it and solve the problem. You custmize the diffs, shocks, everything the way YOU want it.

Thats my 2 cents tho. I might be wrong...

+1 to qaiz. If you go rtr as a racer, you'll end up doing all those things anyway(diffs,shocks,ect...). You might as well go for the better quality components of a kit. IMO

I watched the sliver state race and their were 5 full ride factory pros running Hyper Pros and all they did was blow diffs..the whole weekend, i dont think any of them even finished a race without smoking a diff..and I listened to them talk about the inadequacies of the Hyper..changed my whole outlook on this truggy..gaiz ran one for a while and he had an RTR and his recommendation is a Pro..My recommendation is spend a bit more and get a better truggy..Not sure just how long Hyper is going to beat a dead horse (that would be the Hyper 7 platform) but I guess you wont be running out of parts availability for a while..:)

Cant say about that engine, but the radioe is great. I have a JR XS3 Pro and I love it. I would suggest this radio to anyone who plans on doing any racing and doesn't have a huge budget. It has been discontinued, but can found on ebay in hoards. With 30 FM channels to choose from and nearly everyone going to 2.4 ghz, you'll find yourself in a "roomy" situation as far as frequencies go. And other good things are a 50 lap timer trigger so you can get the most out of your practice and the smaller(cant remember the number) reciever that caomes with radio. Its so small it'll fit in anything, you could probablly fit a 6 pack in my radio boxes after it's all said and done. lol
