Which Steering servo
Well guys me and my thnder tiger st1 went to the track today. I almost one but had a antenna problem and a failsafe problem. Anyway I did really good for only driving it twice, but my steering servo seems really slow and also i can even gas it to get aroung the turns. I think i need a new one. So i had some in mind, let me know which is the best for my st1 thats better then the stock servo? Keep in mind i will be using the stock radio. here they are, take a look and let me know, which is the best. Also is more torwqe or speed better for steering? thanks derek

RE: Which Steering servo
for a Bomb Proof 1/8 steering servo your lookin to spend in the neighborhood of 100$.....that is if u want it to last multiple seasons of abuse without issues......if u plan to use the stock radio for Now...u Can still use Digital servos BUT....your radio MUST have EPA's....if not you will Burn up the servo Real Fast.....if thats the case i would be looking for a new radio aswell....stock wont cut it for racing....plain and simple.....there are decent 2.4's for under 200$.....then u can run digi's without worry of messing them up.....u Need Torque for steering and speed for throttle......imo 200oz is around the mark u should have for both steering and throttle....as u still need decent torque for the brake's...also on a side note...an upgraded radio like a 2.4 has a TINY antenna....so u wont have any more issue's with that. :)
PS....Look here for servo's http://www.amainhobbies.com/index.php/cPath/1_61_100 |

RE: Which Steering servo
if any thing i would get the cirrus
|
RE: Which Steering servo
ok so it will work with my stock radio and stuff?
|
RE: Which Steering servo
I got for a Ace DS1015, they are a top servo, 14KG or pure Torque, not claimed but it puts it out and it will hold the wheels even under full power. The Cirrus will not hold the wheels and you will understeer, i had that servo on my ST-1 and the difference was night and day.

RE: Which Steering servo
ok last question this http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...oducts_id/5994 or this http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/18375
|
RE: Which Steering servo
If i had to choose out of those two definatly the Ace servo, although i dont know why you dont go for the next one up (14KG)
|
RE: Which Steering servo
i dont have that kind of many lol. I think this is good check it out http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/18374 for the money?

RE: Which Steering servo
If you are racing you need 200 oz of torque minimum to keep up with other racers. I just got an airtronics that ends in 358, 200 oz of torque at 0.10 seconds I love it.

RE: Which Steering servo
dirthead said i need atleast 150 oz of torque
|
RE: Which Steering servo
That's close to the stock Thunder Tiger servo so it won't be much of an upgrade.
|
RE: Which Steering servo
whats the spec on the stock one? so the hitec hs 5645mg puts out 168 oz of torque, wont be an upgrade, this-> http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/18375
|
RE: Which Steering servo
Honestly its worth savnig a little extra, you will only be disapointed by getting something thats only slighty better then the stock.
|
RE: Which Steering servo
and if u get one thats a little better than stock than you might have to get another one and that will be the same as getting 1 good servo
|
RE: Which Steering servo
. The stock servo only puts out 108 oz of torque and the speed .21, and it analoug. I look at the 6 volts right? Anohter person said the the 5645 is great for the price and its digital
|
RE: Which Steering servo
I use the 5645 in my revo and it works great, I have also heard racers say it works great. Im sure having over 200 oz of torque would be better, but if your starting out and probably learning how to control the RC the 5645 would be a good investment. Then as your skills develop, you can experiment with other things and by that time youll actually be able to appreciate any difference other servos produce.
|
RE: Which Steering servo
That's true west, also the stock ST1 servos put out 125 oz of torque so anything over 155 should be noticed.
|
RE: Which Steering servo
so then the hitech thats puts out 168 is good? Here is the stock servo it puts out 108, http://www.thundertiger4u.com/s2008m...o-p-13165.html
