Help decide

After some research and asking questions i found four truggy's i like. Im hearing all kinds of good and bad info on them. Im looking for out of the four truggies which would be the best, for racing. So which one (!!No biased opionions!!)

1. Caster k8t kit (435)
2. Cen Matrix Fre Edition ($290 new)
3. Gs Racing Xut Advanced (new truggy just came out, $399
4. Hobao Hyper St ($349)

dude just save for a RC8T. out of those i would pick the Caster. If you can, wait and get the RC8T with a decent .21 and nice servo's you wont need to upgrade ANYTHING.... good luck man.

RE: Help decide

I agree.. Get the RC8T.. Here the price is going down literally by the week..

You guys know my choice :D I can say I have sold 2 Caster K8T's to people with the new RC8T after driving my K8T. For some reason I have been hearing the RC8T has problems turning. I am assuming it is just setup since the Pro's do so well with it. The 2 guys I know says theres pushed like a dump truck and a couple guys at the SIC race I went to said the same. Like I said, probably setup and it is a new truck so people are exprimenting with setups and mods. I am sure if they had the time I have on my K8T then there RC8T's should be alot better.

its that too short servo horn ae includes thats why there trucks wont turn. but out of your list i have to agree with the caster. there support by the company and by team members is by far the best for a smaller company. the gs is a nice truck but they seem to lack customer support

ahhhh..... I have seen that problem before on other cars too. Very simple fix though. You think they would notice that when they make them. I guess every brand has its faults too. The Caster K8T servo saver spring is too weak in the box. Have to tighten it up all the way to get the truck to steer like it should. I replaced it and is perfect now.

Nothing else really compares to the caster? Why did you sell the hypper st kit, how does that compare?

That is almost the same as the Caster. Only thing is it is not the Prospec kit which comes with all the upgrades. The Caster K8T is almost like the Prospec MBX5T. You also know why it is that cheap right? They are discontinued. Nothing wrong with that truggy, It is a awesome truggy as a matter of fact. Way better than ALL the others you posted. I would say it is just under the Caster KIT and here is my reasons before I get bashed for it.

1- It has way thinner shock towers, not the thick ones the Prospec comes with

2- Plastic chassis braces (which in a way is good.)
3- Plastic Toe blocks.
4- No 16mm Big Bores.
5- Supposedly Discontinued.

Add all that to the kit to make it like the MBX5T Prospec or Caster K8T Kit and you will have way more money into it.

Who said it's just sitting there?? I meant organized races with qualifying heats and all that.. I also run at tracks for practice and fun racing etc..

Just ran my RC8T for the first time btw.. Wasn't able to completely find the tune on the engine yet, but my god this thing can steer.. Unlike anything I've driven or even seen.. Crazy how agile it is...

RE: Help decide

sweet, so the cen is a piece of crap and the hobao is heavy and old. Now im back gs and caster, but the rc8t looks great, the losi is 500 and comes with tires so thats a better deal.

There's no "Cheep alternative" to racing......if u think the kit price is expensive.....u got bigger issues.

Just a question.

You do know that you'll need to buy an engine, radio, and servos with a Kit right.? And maybe even a starter box.

Just letting you know incase.

Out of your first list, I say K8T. Saw one and I liked it, handled well on our track, and IMO if anything can handle well on our track, its good everywhere :D.

DS 10-19-2008 06:28 AM

RE: Help decide

yes i got the motor and servos. Im still liking the new gs xut advanced pro kit, just came out

RE: Help decide

Just outta curiousity.

What motor, servos, radio etcc.. Have you got planned.?

The Hedgehog 10-19-2008 11:49 AM

RE: Help decide

Stuff from his ST-1 :D

qaiz 10-19-2008 01:07 PM

RE: Help decide

Um.

Isnt he selling it.? No offense or anything, but I really doubt an ST1 Roller ( No engine, radio & servos ) will fetch anything over $100. A new one retails for $299 give or take.

I would suggest, keep the ST1, save up till you can afford some good gear, then sell the ST1 off as a package deal, that way you'd have the money for your kit, and the money for your equipment. And IMO you'll need some money for Spares, whatever truck you buy ( ie : Maybe a set of lower arms, a diff, stuff like that just incase. )

Anyway. Good luck with whatever you go with.

Enjoy...

RE: Help decide
