Kit or RTR?
 

ok so here's the decision....

Or

<u>KIT</u>

A used jammin x1,st-rr, mbx5-t, 8ight-t 1.0 etc from ebay
$200 .21 engine
chrome top starter box
mid range/ or lower end servos
2.4ghz radio
etc.


Now the $700 question which route will be best. keeping in mind I have nitro experience and that I only bash no racing here if anything just with friends

I would get the Losi RTR.   It's an awesome package..  Since you're not racing at a high level, the run time of that 28 won't matter..  For bashing and messing around with friends, that 28 is not just good but ideal anyway...

With the Losi you can just order it and have pretty much everything you need.  You can always upgrade servos or whatever later if need be..(you said you'd go cheapish on those  anyway..)    But I mean, essentially an LRP Spec 3 truggy version, DXS radio, decent servos, starterbox, and so on.. 

Don't forget, your list btw for the kit still doesn't have a few key things on it - like pipe, decent clutch, batteries for the box, and probably a couple other things..   So your engine including clutch and pipe etc will be more like $300.(though that can be reduced - cuz I would recommend buying an LRP Spec 3 instead of a race 21 anyway...., so on that note you could get it down to $220ish with pipe and clutch...)  Servos, $75?...  Radio, $200??  Box with batts $100??..  Probably a new set of tires/rims, $75...   It gets expensive quickly...    I've been upgrading a used buggy I got last year, thinking I'd do it all on the cheap..  Well, even running a cheap Go engine and searching high and low for the cheapest deals, I've suddenly spent like €400 in the blink of an eye...  Was intending more like half that....  [X(]

It is  kind of fun to go assemble all the components yourself, and you will have some higher end components maybe..  But it'll be more expensive, and in all likelihood won't be significantly better than the Losi RTR..   Just my two cents anyway...

i agree 100% with HerrSavage. Its fun to put together your own KIT, but the Losi RTRis a nice package for the money. I managed to get a racer roller kit and put what i want in it. gets expensiive fast. Losi RTR way to go, besides at some point you will have to take apart the RTRand put it all back together again so you get the experience of the build. and you can slowly upgrade with what u want. Besides right outta the box the Losi RTRis a beast and very competitive.

Kit FTW. I dont want to buy another RTR, kits are more expensive, but are worth it in the long run.

the Losi 8ight-t 2.0 RTR is the best RTR kit ever made in my opinon. bet i could hold my own in our club races. no doubt. its about the driving not always the kit
