best engine for truggy?
 

I bought a Nanda\tq racing truggy last week and i don't now what engine yet.
I bash, driving at track (most). i've locked for the go .21 5 port and go 2047 pipe.
I've heard that the engine is hard to break in, is that true and is that some way to make it moore easy?
otherwise, what engine shall i buy?

Good engine from what ive heard/seen. Dont get the Go pipe, its very flimsy and will dent very easily. Get a Dynamit or Nova 086.

If it is a reddish orange head with etching on it, its a new motor that will be released soon. Original Go 5p's had a silver head. The red head was used on the 3p race engine and the .25 race engine.

I have a Caster Grenade 21 - which is basicalyl a modded Go 21 5-port.. It runs really great - but hot.... Running pretty fat with a P4, it likes 280+ under race conditions...

The Werks B7 thingy had a great rep - probably about the best value engine you could get given its recent sale price at amain, along with the Jammin JPX..(I also run a Nosram 21RR, which is basically identical to the Jammin, and I must say, it's GREAT - better than the Caster by a fair margin I would say.. I do get a bit nervous though, because there are undoubtedly a good few guys out there who've had issues with their Picco-based engines.. Mine is great, but after you read about a few too many problems, it makes you nervous about getting another one...) I never ran a Sirio mind you, but I would've if I hadn't bought the Caster(which yes, is even cheaper..)

I've been reading and listening and watching a lot about the Sirio engines over the years, and overall I like what I've seen and heard, and would get one if the situation were right.. I was kind of concerned about the 7-port maybe lacking bottom end for a truggy, but this 5-port might - might - be just hte ticket... For that price I'd try one anyway..

how about the sh .21 pro competion engine?
i've heard alot good about SH. btw, the nosram .21 RR is the same as SH .21?
SH make, nosram, lrp, STS, XTM and some moore.

Most Nosrams are SH engines, yes. But the 21RR is a Picco. Same with LRP - most are SH's, but the Z21X is a Picco... (Picco Evo 2 = LRP Z21X = Nosram 21RR = Jammin JPX = almost Orion CRF 21.. The Orion has a slightly modded crank..)

That SH 21 is also meant to be very good..

There are just a lot of good 21's around I think..

ps SH do NOT make STS.

The new Go engines with the red head are the raced prepped versions. They come with a Ti coated crank, carb slide and an extra conrod. Great deal IMHO. the standard Go 5 is a great engiine too.

I would not go with a vantage pipe. They are carbon fiber and do not work as a tuned pipe is intended.

please explain,seems as though the length and diameter of the chamber,stinger diameter and location are what makes the tuning of the pipe.[sm=confused.gif] carbon fiber some how eliminates this?

alot of people have told me that the carbon fiber pipes do not burn fuel right because the pipe doesent get hot enough. wrong i like the pipes. that pipe alows me to run my truck richer without slowing down. i can lean it out and it has sick power.my next pipe will probly be a jp-3. yet so far i like the vantage pipe.

Carbon fiber dosent expand and contract like metal pipes do. That is what causes metal pipes to 'supercharge' the air/fuel mix.

Just get a Go .21 or .25 and a dynamite 086 pipe.

i thinking of getting a lrp .28 spec 3.
and buy a high end .21 next summer?
couse, am just racing at summer, and it's soon crismas, hehe.

Can't beat the performance of an LRP Spec 3 for the price IMO.. Especially if you're not doing serious racing and run time doesn't matter..

The Mach 427 - Losi has a new red-headed version - is a great compromise - good oomph to hang with 21's, but not the fuel hog of the LRP.. In truggy I get about seven minutes with an LRP, but an easy 10+ with a Mach.. (Fioroni clutch and the stock Muggy pipe - best pipe for the Mach I've come across...)

When you see that a Mach costs like 100 bucks - a third of most high end 21's..., will last you eight gallons or more if taken care of, and gets 10 minutes to a tank..., well, why not?...

For a real race 21 though right now I'd get that new Werks B5 or a Jammin JPX...

oh this thread is helping me a lot... I am currently looking into a new mill and pipe setup for my XT8, thank you HerrSavage! One question, Z28 or Z30? I rarely have time to race anymore, but I would like to throw it down every once in a while if I get to a track and what pipe would you recommend?

The most use (if you afford) the jammin jp-2. I just don't have the money hehe.

Nifty, the 28 is plenty... Pipe-wise, the JP-2 is great with the LRP.. Can go cheaper and get a Muggy or RTR Losi buggy or truggy pipe on e-bay.. Are also very good..

BTW, when searching for an LRP Spec 3, the Losi 454 that comes with the XXL or 8T 2.0 RTR is identical to the LRP... Can be had cheaper on e-bay...

As of now the only LRP .28 left is the pullstart version, and that will soon be gone.
