RC8TE servo
I ordered a RC8TE and I was wondering if a Spektrum S100 servo work with this kit? It is heavy duty and it has metal gears so I think it would work, but what do you think?
Also has anyone had any experience with the Novak HV systems? I want a castle system for it but I don't have the money for it. Just let me know what you guys think. Thanks, Chris |
RE: RC8TE servo
That servo is not even close to the amount of torque you need. Don't skimp on servos. Servos are worth the price because you'll have them a long time. Cars eventually wear out, but the electronics just get transplanted into the next car.
You'll want something with at least 250oz of torque. I would also save up your money for the Castle system. The Novak HV systems are not up to the task of moving 1/8 scale truggies. I've personally witnessed one catch fire down the straight away. |
RE: RC8TE servo
What servo would you recommend?

RE: RC8TE servo
Servos are a debatable subject. But I've had good luck with the Hitec 7955 for the most part. I think the newest version is actually the 7950. I've had one mysteriously fail on me, but they have a good warranty:
7950 (rediculous amounts of torque) http://www.servocity.com/html/hs-7950tg_servo.html That's a good price too. They're $150 just about anywhere else... |
RE: RC8TE servo
Its just so hard to let myself pay that much for a servo, but if I need it I guess its only a one time thing.

RE: RC8TE servo
I know what you mean. I buy alot of my electronics second-hand to save some dough. However, the warranty usually doesn't apply unless you bought it new...

RE: RC8TE servo
Do you think this servo will fit in the RC8TE? http://www.advantagehobby.com/produc...=44850&cat=296

RE: RC8TE servo
Nope. That's a 1/4 scale servo. If you click on the specification tab, it lists it's dimensions...

what about this? http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/item.cfm?itemId=615784

RE: RC8TE servo
It fits all the requirements. For 25 bucks, it wouldn't hurt to try I guess...

RE: RC8TE servo
thanks for all your help, I will probably end up buying an expensive one but I will give the cheap one a try first.
Thanks, Chris |
