RE: ESM Bf 109G
thanks for the information Chad, but if I may provide a picture. in it one can clearly see the raised center section
of the stab. the reflection of the pilots head on the stab shows it as well. thats not the case with the other stab.
perhaps this is a one off kinda thing(?). again, I appreciate the info you provided

No, not at all, we should all take care to ensure that bad info does not become accepted wisdom. For example, the b&w photo shows very clearly that German aircraft paints were 'flat', not matt. Similar light reflection can be seen on 190-D's, and there are piccies of the ground crews waxing the aircraft. To suggest that Luftwaffe frontline aircraft were dull and dirty does an injustice to the groundcrew that looked after them. German paints were not the same as Allied paints, and required more maintenance and the Warts were proud of the aircraft they looked after, the pilots probably appreciated the extra few mph that a clean aircraft would give them. As for the recollections of those still surviving, that too needs to be carefully considered, much time has passed, memories do not always remain clear, and will be coloured by both time and distance. Lets be gentle with us all, and do our research before accepting 'new facts'.

I found this site while googling my father (Horst Petzschler). I certainly did not expect to see such a....lively....discussion LOL!
My father always invited people to our home to chat, and frequently. So Experten109/40-you're right. Friends with an ace indeed! And thank you for the lovely compliment about my brother and me.
And if my dad said it was so, then it was.

Spinner problems! I ordered the spinner from TBM and the first issue is the bolt that holds it on is too short. Its a ML8-5, something like that. Can't find a longer one at least not yet.The second problem is the backplate hole is too small for the crank shaft which measures 10mm. So I can't find a 10mm drill anywhere. Did anyone else have the same problem that can help me? Thanks
