Default What weight glass cloth?

Almost ready to start glassing a 1/7 TF spitfire and was wondering what weight cloth I should use. This is my smallest plane that I've glassed so far. Normally use 3/4 oz cloth. Also, should I try 1/32 panel line tape? Thanks in advance

yeah, 1/2ounce will keep the weight down. as far as 1/32 tape.. well, it should be around 1/64 on a 1:7 scale.
but then again if it looks good to you using 1/32.. go for it.

.5 Oz cloth and 1/64" panel line tape.  At 1/7 scale,  1/32 " panel lines would make it look like the panel lines on the foamys.  1/32 X 7 = 7/32 panel lines if full scale..  No way!

I used this Thayercraft cloth, and I was pleased with the results.

Nice people. Quick service.

No difference in quality that i have seen. Typically the more you buy the less you spend, and thayercraft buys HUGES amounts of fiberglass in single rolls. CST may buy large amounts of smaller rolls, but i'm not sure. I buy 99% of my fiberglass cloth from thayercraft and have never had an issue with any of the cloth i have purchased from them. (over 500 yards)

good to hear.. make sure you look at the last 2 pages for specifics on the polyester cloth needed, as myself and another have had "issues" using something other than what i normally used.

I just finished covering a P47 and had two different cloths.  The first Hobbico 3/4 ounce was terrible, the cut edge frayed even when I cut it on the diaganol, then I used 1/2 oz from Sig and it was a totally different glass, a lot better quality.  I alos used the polyester cloth and had not troubes using it.  It has to be 100% poly.  It left NO resin on top of the glass, much better than the ole toilet paper roll that I was told to do by an ole timer.  On the wing 60" span, I weighed it before the glass and after.  I added only 2.5 oz to the wing using glass and it's not hanger rash proof and feels very solid.

Got my .56 oz cloth from thayer, seems to be of good quality. Also found the poly at jo-ann's fabric store. Used the 100% poly anti-static lining. Only tired on the gear doors so far but it seems to work as shown in your vids invert. Going to start glassing tomorrow since we are looking at 70 degrees temps here in ny

Thayercraft. I am still working off the roll I purchased years ago. IHMO the light the cloth the harder it is to work with. I now used 2" foam rollers and can get a nice light finish using Z-poxy. Don't use any more epoxy than needed and you will keep the weight down with whatever cloth weight you pick.
