Default VQ FW190

I just got a VQ FW 190 and was wondering what is the best retract available for this .60 size bird? I can't seem to find any information when I do a search.

If you want the cheapest route then the VQ mechanicals are available with matching oleo struts.

But if you want the most reliable and easiest to setup with the least maintenance then you can't go past the air retracts.

I have this plane with Spring Air retracts and they work without a problem. A real fit and forget installation.
And they just bolt straight in.

Mike

I would look at the E-Flite 60-120 retracts. I have a set in my VQ Hurricane.

Thanks guys for the information. I looked at both the spring air and eflight units and they looked great. Could you guys possibly tell me which model # of retract you are using?

On my Hurricane, I'm using the 90 degree retract angle, because the wing is basically flat with no dihedral. On a FW-190, I believe there's is some dihedral, so you would want to use 85 degrees. That being said, before someone tells me I'm wrong, the "Real FW 190 used a retract with significant less retract angle. I believe around 70 degrees. However, this being more of a sport/stand off scale plane I would go with 85 Degrees.

I usually just grab the 300 series Spring  Air that do all the 40 to 60 just fine.

Just checking the web site, $127 for a kit.

I have a Royal kit 1/7th scale and the guys at spring air said to use 116. I can't remember the size of the VQ, but just shoot them an email and they will get back to you.

Im running the e-flite 60-120 size gear in a 68.5" Graupner FW-190D9. They are super easy to use, no air fill required, no air pump, no nothing. They simply work when you flip the switch. Definitely use the 85 degree ones.

Just picked up the FW 190 from VQwarbirds here in Texas for $139.00 . I plan on using the E-flite 85 degree retracts, my DX8 xmitter has a function to allow me to set the retract speed so it has a more scale look. Also doing the electric conversion, if anyone has any photos or suggestions on the build, fire away. Thanks

Here's a thread I had started on it on rcgroups. Feel free to add anything you want to that thread, pics, comments, whatever:

I never found any threads about it here on RCU
