RE: CMP Me109G..DREAM MACHINE! TopGun bash!
Experten Thanks for the canopie patterns. Galland hood willlook great on the late model 109. I am confused on the markings " -<â—„". I have never seen the dash ahead of the chevron. I will wait, don't reveal the documention yet (Late war, big guns, lots of different inovations). Keep up the great work!

your welcome. heres and example ( pic below). the scheme I've chose is very unique.
not the plane pictured... but a different one. as far as I know, I've never seen another
model of it anywhere ( rc or plastic).

Keeping your eyes open there are a LOT of very unique group markings.
Stuff like <+> or O+O.
Its really kinda cool.

groups became more creative for group markings.
<<<+ or <<<+| or <<<+~ or <<<++ very interesting times indeed.
some pilots did keep their group insignias throughout the war, but kill markings
were taken off purely for self-preservation for the most part. there may be exceptions.
allied pilots learned to reconize then gang up & try to shoot down experten once they
got ID'ed. all this started sometime in 1944. as one German pilot said, "the safest plane
in the sky over Germany in 1944 wasAmerican a/c".

RE: CMP Me109G..DREAM MACHINE! TopGun bash!
wow! I can't believe what a p.i.t.a. FM is to work with. especially with things like the canopy.
first and last time for that. well, mabey not lol. the outside looks awesome, now to tackle the
inside of a frame. lots of work, but well worth it in the end.
guess the only thing Ineed is a pic/diagram of how the real Erla was hinged to the fuse.
any help here? once I got that, I'll be set. thanks God the real one was all manual.

whoops! forgot the pic
anyways, self explanitory. when done with all the rivets/nuts/bolts/acrylic glas/etc, will be
painted in RLM66. I'll miniwax the hardwood before I paint it though.

Bill, exactly what I was looking for, awesome thanks!
"definatly a TY cockpit is in order ! or hey you seem to be moving along at a good pace why not try your hand at scratch built one ?"
yeah, the possibility is there to scratch build one.... we'll see how it goes..
pic below is 100% scratch built. balsa & plastic.

RE: CMP Me109G..DREAM MACHINE! TopGun bash!
and you've helped plenty! I think some people don't appreciate your vast knowledge
of Luftwaffe WarBirds!
anyways a little background on the pilot & this magificant machine I'm trying to
duplicate:
the plane is a Bf 109G-14/U4AM, the pilot ( name withheld for now) was responsible
for shooting down 10 fighters & 3 four-engine bombers. the list:
1. Spitfire
2. Spitfire
3. P-38
4 & 5. Spitfire x 2 in 3 minutes
6. P-38
7. P-38
8. P-38
9 & 10. P-38 x 2 in 2 minutes
11. B-17 + 1 damaged
12. B-24
13. B-24
not a huge kill list by Luftwaffe Standards, but like Erich Hartmann, he never lost a
wingman, & was never shot down by an enemy a/c or flak.
I had a few criterias for the a/c I wanted to do.
~ must have shot down at least 1 four-engined bomber
~ must have been an ace
~ must have been a unique Bf 109G-14
so far this has been a very fun project.

Try using 1/4" 3M blue automotive masking tape. MUCH better for the job than the green stuff...and a lot more expensive. Have to go to automotive paint stores to get it, but I go through the stuff like water. No bleeding and does curves well.

Ok
So far we have 13 kills, G-14/U4AM, black/white spiral spinner, chevrons.Standard canopy or Galland? its the Erla, "Galland" refers to the 7cm thick armor glass behind the pilots head
Latter part of the war, greens and grays probably. Homeland defense? The East my friend
Hummmmmmmmmm.

thanks buddy. seen his tuturial, most awesome. there many many different spirals with equally many
ways ground crews applied them. ranging from proffesionally done with a spraygun, to freehand with
a bucket of paint & a brush. mine I'm copying falls somwhere in between
" The East "
Bulgaria, Eastern Bulgaria.

RE: CMP Me109G..DREAM MACHINE! TopGun bash!
beginings of the pilot cockpit armor. need to find some 13mm ( 1/2") arcylic for the armor glass.
