RE: CMP Me109G..DREAM MACHINE! TopGun bash!
right. I understand what you guys are saying however I've read where the spinners exploded after some people tossed
the low vibration mount in favor for a solid type of mounting directly on the ply former. CMP said that was a no-no. they
offered a potetial cure of drilling and tapping for s 4/40 screw. dunno.
Ty said he's in talk with Seirra to make the spinner. if they do, and offer a 3-blade, I'll be all over it. will post some more
mod pics later.

RE: CMP Me109G..DREAM MACHINE! TopGun bash!
thats seems like a plan! its just a few mm larger. do you have his cowling latches too?
if you do, you think you could measure the length & width for me? thanks.

I am using a Fliteskin spinner on this plane, which works great!

Casey,
thanks for the info.. looks like I'll order the latches ( will have to down scale them a wee bit ) & the spinner. I assume one cuts it out
for a 3-blade prop? thanks.
WWIIP38,
that fliteskin spinner does look pretty darn good on her! thanks for the pic.
Heres a pic of the engine looking through the oil cooler duct. will have to build a deflector in there
to re-direct the air out the back of the duct (mabey?).
Seirra apparently makes shaft extentions. sooo gotta try and get ahold of them. I also have roller
bearings of all sizes incase I have to make a support for the shaft.
I think its worth the effort to hide the engine...

Just a question, but are not the exhaust outlets a little high? On the photos I have of the originals, those small forward facing air scoops just behind the spinner seem to be about the centre line of the prop shaft, and the exhausts are definitely lower. I assume, Experten, you have enlarged the oil cooler bath, per the G10/K series mods?

high, yes a little. no big deal & an easy fix. plus I still have to add the exhaust deflector (shield).
the gen vents seems to be in the right place. which is good. havn't enlarged the duct yet. I'll get
around to it pretty soon.
that said. its not a perfect ARF, but its a very good canvas to start with. no complaints from me.
its all in the guy willing to go that extra mile. mabey I'll keep my mouth shut and enter it in a scale
competition LOL.
michel gravelle,
yeah.. I had the itch for an Me 109 for along time.. thanks for posting.

You can get a spinner/backplate from Dave Platt that fits this CMP plane perfectly. It is a resin dome and aluminum backplate. It is also done up to simulate a cannon through the middle of the spinner as its a bolt thu the middle version.

RE: CMP Me109G..DREAM MACHINE! TopGun bash!
sweet, another source for spinners.. I noticed he sells 3-blade scale props too. couldn't find the
link for the actual spinner though
1st pic is the stupidly small main/tail wheels, yikes! luckily, those are easily remedied.
man I love that drop tank. the exhaust mans will get the weld line going down the middle.
2nd pic is the canopy. gotta figure out a way to make it a Erla Haube out of it. anybody
got any ideas???

Experten,
The canopy you have is typical of the ones that come with the CMP. When they say fogged it means just not really clear. If you hold that one up to the canopies made from PETG here in the states its really not clear...
Anyway I took one of my old molds for the CMP 109 and sanded off all the rear frame work. It would be easiest if i were to pull it without trying to add the Erla frame work and you add it when you mask it off for painting. It is still a little more squared off than the Erla but with new frame work added it would look pretty close.. I am going to try to pull one this afternoon and see how it goes????

Well I was able to pull one. I was able to remove all of the frame work. I need to make a new plug from this one I pulled. Like I said it was an old plug and had a minor crack in it. I really need to sand it smoother but it should work. Just for info. I charge at about my cost for these. The ones CMP offers are very brittle and they no longer have replacements. Or they said they did not and had no idea when they would get more. I may have some of these in a couple weeks.. Really busy right now....

I would not be putting the rear frame work on this it would be up to the modeler to apply the liquid mask to the canopy then draw the frame lines then remove the mask where needed to make the Erla rear framework. Painting the framework onto the canopy...

RE: CMP Me109G..DREAM MACHINE! TopGun bash!
so now that the engine puzzle is solved, I decided to add some scale touches to the
Type D external fuel tank.
Pic below, the beginning:
~ added the anti-sway mounts
~ hardpoint
~ fuel filler
~ tank vent
dosn't look like much. for now

Johnny, they are worth it. They are a good basis to build a decently stand off scale 109. Much better than most of the other ARFs out there.
Experten, great detailing so far. Starting with the smaller stuff is the way to start for sure.
