Hey Guys,
Just finish up the cockpit kit for the Fw 190D. Wow it took longer than I thought it would. Just had too many things come up at home .. You know kids and springtime...
Anyway here is the install video. The cockpits are shipping to Tomas at VQ warbirds on Monday. He should have then By Wednesday/Thursday..

RE: ESM FW D-9
I started the engine installation this afternoon. I made a template of the center hole after insuring that it was centered and drew in the lines. The hole is 1†diameter so this made it easier than expected.
I made a template of the stanchions mounted to the engine and then placed them over the centering lines and then placed 10-32nd lock washers behind the firewall with 10-32nd bolts through the back side. I’ll aeropoxy these in later.
The DLE55 isn’t completely concealed as previously thought but I figured it wouldn’t be as my Holman has a Moki 210 in it which is smaller and is also exposed a little.
The engine sits about ¼†beyond the cowl. I thought I would have to move the firewall back thinking the engine would stick out like my Zenoah did in my Vailly FW190 prior to modifications but I seen no need for such a small distance.

RE: ESM FW D-9
I think someone said the wingspan of this plane is 82.5 inches according to the instructions. If someone actually has put the wing together, they could measure across the top of the wing (not the bottom) wingtip to wingtip in a straight line and give us the real wingspan. I had ordered this plane and just found out today that my credit card had been hit for the remaining balance. I thought they were going to call me and confirm the w.s. before shipping.
Thanks,
John Z.

Does anyone know the true wingspan? Is it really 82.5 inches? Less? More? Usually the manual, instructions, or box specifications are off a little. When the wing is finished, the span is usually less than advertised. Thanks for the help.

Ticketec, If I weren't doing all the changes and modifications to it like the canopy, gun hood, retracts, elevator and possibly the firewall, I'd already be flying her. I've yet to purchase the ccokpit kit which I hope to do this week if available. Once these areas are completed, She'll be up and running.
I keep telling myself that I'm not going to mod out another ARF and just build it and fly it but yet; here we go again.
I hope to get a video out in a few weeks or so time willing.

RE: ESM FW D-9
Just talked to True Turn here in Texas. She said there were no plans to produce spinners for any of the ESM CMP arfs. If I wanted one for the Fw 190 D9, the cost would be 1200 dollars.

Here is the picture of the DLE 55 mounted before modification of the fire wall with the spinner from Gene Barton. Also a picture of my distraction, my Holman D9 being riveted..
The cowl has yet to be glued but from my measurements, the spinner is almost 1/2" forward of the cowl. Enough for me to move the firewall.

I'm sure I could've but I get tired of looking for parts when I like to build and moving the firewall cost me nothing but time. I guess if I had the machine shop to modify the standoffs but It's already completed, just waiting for the hysol to cure. Opening up the firewall revealed more areas which I think need re-enforcement.

You seem to have an addiction to FWs! Which Hysol product are you using?

Problem? what problem??
Those stock painted canopy frames look rather, chunky...
Thanks
