Hey Guys,
Just about to start the build of my second ESM D9. This time I would like to scale it up a notch for competitions. Does anyone have a used Sierra main gear lying around theyare willing to sell?
Rgs,
Rev

pm me and ill give you my email i will pull my cowl of and show you how to mount your motor the spacer that's required and a better way to mount your cowl allowing air for cooling. Has your xyz got the normal plugs or the smaller ones? the smaller ones are better for clearance.

hey stickmode,

thats how i did my spacing early on in the thread for the XYZ mounting

cant recall the dimension I built up to but I would suspect I posted the dimensions and also the amount of nose weight I had to use in the thread very early on. I think around page 15?? I’m away on holidays so don’t have the ability to easily check for you.

no cooling issues whatsoever with my XZY and we get pretty damn warm in Brissy. Stock size plugs on mine but did a little bit of gentle ,panel beating to the caps and they do skit leaning on the cowl. Mine had been flying for about 4 years now and no bro let’s with cracking or anything like that.

thanks

Dave,

Thanks for the reply. This was actually me that asked about the mounting, cooling, etc. The plane has flown several times since, and happy to report NO problems with the XYZ. The gear, on the other hand, is a different story. I'll post a video of my last flight. One main came down, but not the other. I got her down with nothing more than some scratched paint and a broken prop (if I'd hit the kill switch, I wouldn't have even broke the prop). It was a long flight, and I suspect an air leak... I'm 50/50 between ripping out the air system and redoing it, or trying to convert the gear to electric. Retracts are Sierras...

Does anyone by chance have a new or used set of electric retracts?

Found a D9 NIB and need the gear. Trying to avoid spending $1k on Sierra’s with an electric conversion.

I have a set of electric retracts that came out of a Phoenix 30cc P-47 that bit the dust that might work for you. Do you know how long the strut need to be. I can take a picture and post it here if you are interested.

I flew my Dora here the other day, and the gunhood came off. I was not able to find it, probably ended up in a river I flew over. This was the original factory-glued hood, which I had not done anything with.

Is there anyone out there who makes gunhoods for these planes?

I contacted Meister Scale and got a quick reply from them: Unfortunately they are currently not producing those items. So I'm still looking.
