Looks like you blew the fuselage right off the Stuka!! Great work! The finish looks great! Paint or metal? I'm thinking you were flying high cover on the first sortie! I'm sure you love the way it flies with 2 big hits, a Ziroli design and a P-47. I always enjoy big jugs!!!

Thanks guys,

She is finished in chrome type paint over black gloss / mat klass kote. My first attempt at this finish and ita a pain in the butt to do, but im pleased with the outcome. Ive fitted her out with Sierra retracts, Robart wheels and a G62 with a BCM wrap around silencer. It also has a UP3 valve which is just fine I was concerned about the lack of performance on this motor, but there is no need, she flies comfortably at half throttle.

I will get her decaled up over the coming winter along with the cockpit and working bombs.

Will get some better flying shots soon.

Frankl

You wont have any issues with the Stuka. Its an awesome bird. Get you a CB Associates P-51 style 4" spinner ( metal backplate and plastic cone) and cut it to fit a Mezjlik 22X12 3bladed prop and have a ball. Good luck finding a siren, but if you do find one, You'll be the envy of England.....

We had the spinner from Ziroli, not the best to be honest, kept on falling apart!!!!!!!!!!

The Stuka has now been sold which is a great shame, but thats the way it goes sometimes,

Frank.

Frank,

Wow! That's a great looking jug!

If you wouldn't mind, please provide some details on this finishing technique. She looks wonderful!

John,

Its not has difficult has I first thought. In a nutshell, its a case of spraying the model with gloss black and then rubbing each and every panel in a different direction with the finest wet and dry you can find. It has to be that fine that you don't actually mark or scratch the black, or you will see it through the chrome paint.

I found an alternative chrome paint, which is a lot cheaper than "Lesonal Platinum", which most fellows use. Once the rubbing stage is complete, and everything is immaculately clean, then attack with the chrome, spraying the panel in the same direction as you have rubbed.

You need to be weary of your chosen fuel proofer. I used Fighteraces Warbirds Clearcote which gave me a satisfactory looking finish.

It is very time consuming, but not difficult.

Hope that helps slightly,

Frank

I'll second the Aerotech recommendation by Casey. They offer the stuff made by Scale Specialties and it is very well done. Here are some pictures of the dummy radial and static prop I used from them on my Hellcat.
