RE: 2011 Northern Alliance Military Fly In - Owatonna Minnesota
Scott,
Google maps give us 7018 SW 48th St Owatonna, MN 55060
That should get you on the road and at the field. Here is the google maps link as well http://maps.google.com/?daddr=7018-7...,+USA&t=h&z=16
There is no gate on the field and we plan on doing all the field setup by wed evening so depending on when you get in we might still be there as well.
See you soon!
Steve

Fantastic, Scott.
We should get there about the same time: I'm leaving Wednesday morning for my 'short' 15 hour, 750 mile trip and should be there around 7 PM.
No Corsair this year (too busy with building my other two planes) so, along with the C-45, P-61, P-47 & F9F, will be the F6F Hellcat and SBD Dauntless.
Leave the light on.

Ryan and I are loading my trailer tomorrow. Ryan is going to a family wedding this weekend, so he is leaving Denver a week early.
I have a BIG B-26 FLAK BAIT, but do not know if we will have room. It is so big, 114 inches, we cannot get much else in my trailer.
How about a ME-262? Or a pair of them? They are sorta twins.
Brian

Oh Brian. After all that talk and video.....you wouldn't think of coming to Owatonna without that 26. I just know you wouldn't! My 80 year old dad is riding 1500 miles up there just to see that puppy. He flew (bombadier/navigator) in them during the Korean War.
Yeah you gotta have it up there...no two ways about it.
Looking forward to seeing you again,
Scott

FYI: Navigator on my Droid kept telling me to go to SE 48th Street; though 7100 SW 48th St Owatonna, MN 55060 was entered?

I'll be stopping at the field after work today. I'll try to not the address it picks up on my TomTom. I'll see if that helps anyone in arriving at the correct location.
Best bet is to look at the google maps directions listed on the website and have some backup to navigate the old fashioned way.

Update: maybe it learned from my trip last week got it right today!
Though last Saturday when I turned onto SW 48th it recalculated and finally got it right.
You can also enter this in Droid Navigator: 44.022632 -93.344221
Some GPS units prefer degrees w/fractional minutes: 44 1.333666667 -93 20.66866667
The attached was from last year's WOO flyer it was a great time this year too!

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa!
Ya'll getting there Wednesday night?!
All the sudden I'm not so glad you're coming! 'Cause I don't get there till Thursday and you better not take my parking spot!
It's an easy spot to recognize: right beside the impound tent and the taxi-way AND the corn and BBQ servers
My technique for finding the field the first coupla years was far more sophisticated than GPS: wander around in the beautiful back-country of rural Minnesota 'til I saw geeks pulling trailers and follow them in.
I'm psyched already!
See y'all there!

field location:
http://www.mapquest.com/
input into 'search for':
7046 SW 48th St, Owatonna, MN 55060
click satellite to get visual (pink and black runway on a dirt road):
From what I remember from last year, this is the flying site (correct me if I'm wrong).
(the address may not be exactly correct, but it gets you to visual of the flying site!)
ps: just noticed that Steve previously posted the location.

That would be it Sam. Interesting that the different online map providers have such different addresses.
SO hopefully everyone can find Owatonna MN using their GPS or maps. I'll assume everyone will be coming from I35. Take the Bridge St exit and head west on bridge street towards Fleet Farm. Go past Fleet Farm to the 4 way stop where you will see the national guard armory. Turn left to go south and you will be on Lemond Rd. Follow this for about 5 miles and you will come to SW 48th st. Take a right and in 1.9 miles you should see the field. We'll have signs along the way from the 4 way stop to help guide you in.
I just printed and cut up a bunch of BBQ dinner tickets for Sat night. I hope you all buy them up and enjoy some of Karen and teams hard work.

Yo Marty,
Daily ice delivery will be welcomed, again.
Got two new planes to fly so I'm anxious to get a lot of stick time over the next two weeks.
Always good to see all those friendly faces, again, in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
