they have 2 sizes, Website is in German and does not tell any prices. So I send them I price request, but the shipping is probably very expensive.

I wonder if they are just reselling the Sunshine-wega Komets?

Oh, I see they have one at 1:2.8 scale which is bigger than the sunshine offerings.
Thanks

RE: looking for a ME 163
Most of these stores are resellers. I have seen several sizes of the ME 163 in Germany. I found some here:
http://www.ebay.de/sch/RC-Modellbau-...=p3286.c0.m282
Many years ago I have seen the mini (95 cm) from Topp with a .15 engine and this was very fast.

Hey OliverJacob,
This kit you referenced is a Topp-Rippin kit.
They are one of the first fiberglass fuse kit producers in Germany.
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Me-163-Spannw...item5645c8881c
They make some really cool kits.
Joe
Opps.... Did fully read your post to see you had referenced Topp. [sm=red_smile.gif]

RE: looking for a ME 163
My ME-163 had an 82 inch wingspan, Saitta fuse, foam wings, AXI 4130/16 electric motor upfront with an ESTES E9P rocket motor in the back. The rocket motor is activated by a 9 volt transistor battery onboard the model by a micro-switch. Dolly free falls off during takeoff. "Flies great, very easy to slow down and land." I had cut a foam wing for mine and sheeted with balsa then glassed it. Had a 15 x 8 electric APC prop.

Yep, That is the flyboy's one. It really is a nice flier once you get it off the ground!
I also have the Saitta 80" Komet and i was emailing him the other day. He has now released a turbine conversion kit for them. I think it's just the formers and locations for the turbine, but he said it would be $100 [X(] I have been thinking about installing my wren 54 in there. 15lbs of thrust would really make her get up and go[8D]
That's one thing you see very little of on the net and that is turbine installs in komets..... I would love to see some more pic of the inside of them.
Thanks

RE: looking for a ME 163
Since electric-powered Komets are pretty common, at least by Komet standards, I've been working on putting my SuperBee in my 82" Saita Komet. The opening at the rear of the fuselage needs to be enlarged to accommodate the pipe. The wings need to be reworked for a spar that attaches to the F3 former on either side of the turbine rather than simply running through the center of the fuse, panel to panel. Also, a torque rod between the rudder and tail wheel is no longer possible due to the pipe. Since I hate having to "baby" an airplane, I'll fully sheet and glass the wings.
I have a TamJet pipe that would center the turbine between the F2 and F3 formers. This is far enough forward to avoid CG issues while still leaving adequate space in front of the turbine for pump,ECU,solenoids, etc so that they are still accessible through the cockpit opening. A 12-15 lb. turbine looks lost inside the cavernous fuselage. No issues whatsoever finding space for fuel tanks or anything else for that matter. The batteries can go inside of the cowling, ahead of the firewall. It's going to take a bit of work, but I think it's very doable. I also want to install the scale flaps to use as drag-producers for landing. As soon as RCU sorts out their server problems, I'll upload some pictures.
And before anyone asks, I consider a smoke system mandatory on this airplane.

I've got one of the Flyboys versions...a very nice plane for 150.00 US, if you ask me....you could probably have the thing ready to fly in a couple of hours actually(if you dont do anything to it LOL)...it was so nice I decided to repaint mine and put fliteskin on the wings....

All of the above plus suck-in doors under the wing roots. This is my biggest concern: Adequate air for the turbine and for cooling the pipe. This is the paint scheme I'll probably do. This airplane is only an hour's drive away, the only one on the west coast.

Finally! Here's the bare bones: 82'' Saita Komet, JetCentral SuperBee, Tam's pipe.

RE: looking for a ME 163
There's also one available through BP hobbies. www.bphobbies.com
There's a review of it in the October issue of Model Airplane news which should still be available at your local magazine store.
The reviewer even installed and estes rocket engine in the tail with a remote ignition and although he says it doesn provide an added thrust, it sure looks neat when he points the plane vertical and lights it. I've seen this plane fly in person and was very impressed.

Yes, Joe offers the Me-163 in two sizes, the 80" span that RCGUY59 and I are talking about here and the 105" version. The larger one can be power by a p-120 sized turbine, but it's too big to be shipped overseas[&o]
Thanks

Well I've put my Flyboys version up on the bench for some camo work(its in RLM 76 at the moment)...I still have to glass the leading edges then I can paint the wings. I cant wait to see this one fly! I have a Hacker a50 I might put in it, but it will be electric for sure.
shot of the pilot when the fuse is still in primer to size him up....not too bad
made the antenna to open the canopy as well
Ticketec, did you have to place your reciever battery in the tail to get yours to balance? And would you perhaps(when you have the time..no rush)...could you check your cg...I've seen your bird fly and she flys well!
Here's a shot of the scheme I'm shooting for(loosly)...
thanks!

I didn't even know Joe Saita HAD a turbine conversion for the 82" Komet until I read it here. Since I've already worked out how I'm going to do it, I'll skip the kit. As far as the pipe is concerned, I don't believe it to be an augmenter in the same sense as Wren's pipe. The only thing this pipe will augment is the cost and weight. It worked well enough in an F-16, though. I should be getting started pretty soon, as the weather here is going downhill rapidly, and I have yet to maiden my 50cc Ultimate. Guess that's why they call them "winter projects".
Ticketec, If you'd care to PM me your email address, I'll send you pic of my progress. I don't want to highjack this thread any further than I already have.

Hey glazier808: On my Flyboy Komet, I put the rx batt as far aft in the fuse as it could go.(under the rudder) Balanced right on the wing screws, it flew great on an OS 55AX. An electric set-up will sure make for a nice, scale-looking nose. Hope this helps.

RE: looking for a ME 163
Your welcome. Not sure sure if I want to do a build thread or not. I do plan to document the conversion with photos, though. I seriously doubt there's very many people interested in an expensive twist on a very esoteric kit. There's something about Komets that scares a lot of people off. Don't know what it is, as personally, I'm fascinated with the thing! Every time I flew my Flyboy Komet, there was a collective sigh of relief from the spectators, who seemed sure it would end in disaster. The worst thing that ever happened was going over on it's back and cracking the canopy. At least it didn't explode! I always made sure to knife-edge the full length of the field just to REALLY confuse them. Something that others have learned and I can confirm is that you need more-than-scale angle of attack on the ground for decent takeoffs. The Flyboy kit's main gear is soft, so you'll have to straighten it out fairly often anyway. Here's a size comparison between the Flyboy and Saita Komets. Also, I forgot all about this until I pulled the wing tube out: Epoxy a hardwood dowel inside the wing tube. On the first flight, the wings flexed a lot more than I wanted to see. Upon investigation, I realized that the tube was flexing at that long, unsupported run through the fuselage. Dowel installed, problem solved.

I have the Flyboys Komet also. I put am estes C size rocket in the tail so i didnt need to put an RX pack at the tail. Plane flies really well and glides wuite good...no flaps are needed
