Not a bad idea Ram My P-40 will be finished by the end of this month and Im going to start on two since they are both ESM kits. They will build in similar manners...BF109 and LA7. That will keep me going the rest of winter

Just got off the phone with them and was told for those of you lucky waiters... A painted spinner will be available in a few month.. Painted with the spiral! For another ten bucks! So if you don't have the time to paint or just can't like me, there you go.lol

Soo.. I have one on order since I fit in both categories..lol.

The unpainted may be in tomorrow.. Check the site. Mine is paid for, gawd I hope it's worth 80 bucks!

Too funny, I'm getting the LA-7 with Sierra gear, I have a xyz 53cc twin which was for another ESM Dora I recently sold. Trying to get away from the German planes since that's all I have and do something a little different. I have a Aeroworks p-51b on order and I'm # 1 on the list for that, I'll pick it up from them hopefully in January my friend who gave me the engine idea is #2..

Ditto on the LA7 setup I have everything to get started on the LA7 and now the clouds are parting for the BF109...Ram you will absolutely love the AW P-51. Mine is a D model and it looks and flys as good as it gets...lands like a trainer... this is last winter

Sweeet, I've flown the d version and almost bought one some time back. With the Tuskegee movie coming out, I wanted to make one in their honor which has been a long time coming and would've had this done many years ago but didn't have the time or desire to build the mustang being so many at our fields. When I got into warbirds being African American, people often wondered why I didn't already have one.. . My friends at the field called me the black Natzi ( jokingly) since my first few FW-190 actually had black pilots (guess they were captured .lol) and all I have are german warbirds also for other reasons other than my adopted grandfather ironically was pure German (that we know of).

On another note, looking at pictures of the ME, wonder how ESM (why) they made the inner flaps a part of the wing and not that cooler like the real thing.. What it that part called under the wing? I want to change this, any suggestions.

Here is some good information about the complex flap/radiatorsystem.

Yeah, Why do some guys think that upper radiator flap is supposed to go up like some sort of dive brake? Those two flaps were controlled by a thermostat.

TA -152, great supporting documentation on those flaps. Since I know nothing on the BF-109's details, that was helpful.

I've watched several videos of a full scale Bf 109 taking off. It took about seven seconds for the gear to fully retract. Some planes have one wheel coming up fully into the wing before the other. I have also seen a full scale plane where both mains retracted at about the same time.

There are several of these videos on youtube.

Ok, here's where I am thus far. There were things I chose not to do for many complicated reasons that if you look at the design of the canopy, you can see why and I'm not even half way through.[&o] This has been a lot harder then doing the FW190's canopies and I think I'm about 20% there!

I split one side which need either replacing or repair and there are areas that need filling like the seams. The actual clear plastic will be the easiest part but I still need the upper rails that curve into the rear of the canopy to install which will be done after I get some sleep!

I would next time just use the existing frame; cut it free with a dremel and use it as a base.. It would be a little easier but in ways more complicated..I think.

lots of people believe they work this way because the CMP 109 shows it in all the adds for their plane

Yeah probably wouldn't sell too well other then in the comedy section.. Anyhoo, that's all about the change with the addition of the LA-7 and the mustang..may cause a few strokes at the field seeing me with something other than a FW..

It does go up a bit but certainly not like some people think like a dauntless dive brake.
