That is a brushless setup... it's a A60 hacker. I havn't heard of anyone useing brushed motors for planes in years... maybe a small foamie, but nothing of this size. Are you saying your's not running a brushless motor? What motor do you have in yours and how many cells?

No problem... just so you know both the older 150 and the newer 30cc share the same exact specs to a T:

wing span 81.25"
length 71"
wing area 1164

So if your looking to see how it will fly on electric or gas it's going to fly very similar

Has anyone installed a DLE 55 on this plane? If so, did you have any balancing issues?

Used 8 oz on side of engine mount with BME 44 for power. Perfect power combo with a 20x10 prop.

Any comments or observations on the Hanger 9 30cc being hauled around by the likes of the DLE 35cc Rear Exhaust?

How about using the First Place Engine 40cc, or the RCFG 45cc Engine?

How are the air frames holding up when using the 55cc series engines?

I had the old razor back as well G38 more than enough power battery towards the front no extra weight needed Would do it again Faulty battery caused its demise Damn!

Great to hear. Normally on warbirds it takes a lot of weight up front to get the CG correct.

The new version will probably require more weight in the nose if you go for a retracting tailwheel.

Spridal,

Your question above I don't understand how is it holding up with a DLE 55. It should really be turned around, how does it hold up with the Evo 40, which is heavier. The DLE 55 is hanging less weight on front, so it should hold up better as long as you use throttle management, maybe that is what you were referring to.

I have a choice to make. I have a NIB OS 55 like Nick did its heavier than the DLE . Or, I can go with a DLE 55 and add a pound of weight +/-. Or, what I am really thinking is how about using the new DLE 60 twin, which weighs a pound more than the DLE 55...so should not have to add weight and I will get a potentially much smoother running engine due to a twin and should balance very close since I am using the retract tailwheel....

How do you guys like this idea. Haven't dont measurements to see if it will fit in the cowl, that may be the issue.

Hi.

Just caught your posing..........I think that the DLE 60 will be waaaaaaay toooooo big to fit in the P-47,looks like the across cylinder dimension is 220mm without plugs fitted !!!

If you got the OS 55 try that,yes they may be a "little" rough on the airframe at first,but it should get smoother as the run time gets less.I had to add tail weight in mine,but as my posting way back...but I added weight to the cowl with added carbon tape + the Biela / hub assy I'm using is about a LB in weight alone.

If you are looking for more power,the new OS 60 may be an option,but I guessing that it is not that much more powerfull than the OS 55 ??????

Can anyone tell me if the electric retracts that now come with the new Hangar-9 P47 thunderbolt 150 will "drop into" the wing panels of the previous model? Mine is the razorback version and came with the mechanical retracts. Will the electric ones for the new model fit?

Hi.

yes,I can help with that question..........

I bought direct from Robart ( by mistake ),the main U/C for the P-47 ( Razor-Back ),thinking these would fit in the 30cc new version..........way back in earlier an,during my build post John Redman advised me that the main U/C for the 30cc P-47 is SPECIFIC to that model...........

The razor back U/C is slightly too long on the oleo length to fit in the 30cc ,I thought about cutting the oleo down on the length,but if you do that you will run into spring suspension problems ,not being enough travel to alow the oleo to work full stop !!!
The mountings are the same dimensions,the only difference is that on the 30cc U/C chassis the screws that keep the chassis together are countersunk to give a flat surface side to the chassis.......the Razor-back chassis uses "raised head "screws......so you will have to dremel out a little clearence to allow the chassis to slip in.

In the end I sold the Razor-back U/C and bought the SPECIFIC U/C for the 30cc model........

I put Robart air into my P47 razorback and had to make a little alteration to the plane.The Robarts work 100 times better than the ones that came with the plane. Tom p.s. these retracts are the ones designed for the new H9 P47 jug.

Hi again !!

If you are to use the 30cc U/C in the Razor-back,I think that you will end up with a bird sitting a bit lower to the ground and you may have to alter the retract -bay with respect to where the "scissor" joint positions itself in the bay.

The other alternative is to convert your "machanical / pnuematic" retracts to elactric by using LADO actuators...........Easy and they are plug and play,this is what I have used in my build.

Hi.

The Robarts that are designed for the New 30cc P-47 will have a hole pre-drilled and tapped in the lower part of the oleo,this is for the gear door attachment bolt..........That was also pointed out to me by John in an earlier post.
