Default CY models giant scale Bearcat

Received my Cy models Bearcat. This looks exactly the same as the Easytiger model. Has 96 inch wingspan & cost 849 Euros from Intermodel. Shipping to Cyprus was only 87 Euros. Retracts, landing gear with alu wheels & a fuel tank are supplied.
The quality of the F/glass fuse is excellent & the built up wings well made. I will remove the fuse formers & refit using Hysol, as I am not confident in the hot glue offering.
For the price, it has the makings of a reasonably priced giant scale Bearcat.
I have ordered a Moki 150 radial as the powerplant. the supplied landing gear looks robust, but I have ordered stronger ones from Century to take the added weight of the Moki.
Will assemble it while waiting for the Moki (four to six weeks was quoted).

Hi loukis. Not leaving the jet scene (although offers always considered), I still have around six. Having recently lost two expensive jets due to structural failure, I feel many of the jet offerings are poorly constructed & a rip off. Giant scale prop planes are of similar size, better quality & half the price.
I have always liked warbirds. The Bearcat is easy to fly & should sound great with the Moki radial.

Happy landings
Jim

Hey Jim,

Im totally with you that most jets are a rip off, I have been chanting that chime ever since jets came into the market...

How is the quality of easy tiger (CY) etc?

Hi Sonnich. I tried biella, unfortunately they wanted 385 Euros shipping. Intermodel was dearer for the model, but only 87 Euros shipping.
Today I fitted the ailerons & flaps.
I used up a large bottle of Cyno going over all the joints in the wings. I like to do this to ensure a good bond, especially in Chinese assembled models.
I will beef up the landing gear mounts to help with any less than perfect landings.
Photos will follow.

Loukis. The quality is very good, better than I expected. The landing gear supplied although good, may not stand up to the weight of the moki. Century jets make a more robust set for the Easytiger bearcat. It looks identical to this CY models offering.

Yup, the one thing i dont like with most bearcat arfs is that the landing gear is totally un scale.

The original bearcat has an intricate mechanism, there are scale retract sets out there but for a cost

This Bearcat is certainly not scale. It only resembles one. I don't mind, as long as it is strong & fly's well.

The plane does look alot like the ET Bearcat I have. If I might make a suggestion, you may want to reinforce the landing gear mounting plates (rails) and the supporting structure. IMO, this area is very weak and will break out on some of your best landings. The plane does fly extremely well.[8D]

I agree, I had to reinforce the wing structure around the retracts. How much weight did you have to put in to balance? I have a 120cc DLE engine in mine and I still needed to add 1lb of ballast.

Had the rudder break out twice. Weak area. Reinforce everything! That said - it does fly extremely well. Power was DA 85.
