Just rolled her out for a few pictures. Will fly after the DOGS fly-in this week end. Two much work getting ready for the show. Model has all panel lines, rivets, welds and hatches. Full cockpit and pilot with a sliding canopy system from Iron Bay models as is the display prop. Radio is Futaba 9ZAPWC2 with both Futaba and Hytec servos. Plane is glassed and painted with auto basecoat/clearcoat paint. All graphics are by Pro-Mark, using both their dry transfers for the smaller lettering and their paint mask system for the large letters and stars and bars. Power comes from a Quadra 52XL, turning a 20/12 prop. Model weighs 30 pounds ready to fly. The nose art was done by using Mcgonigal paper and graphics that lets you create your own water slide decals from your own computer. There web site is mcgpaper.com.
I would like to take this time to thank Ray Dieckman owner of the Marines Dream Corsair for all of his help and allowing me access to his aircraft. Also to Joe Hahn for technical help and Joe Balmer for his help with the nose art graphics. This project could not have been done with out there help. Also for the Wings channel for running the Black Sheep Squadron reruns for motivation.

Gary, sorry I can't attend the DOGS this year.. I usually make it.. but I decided on the Scale Masters next month instead. For your pictures you need to make them 500x350ish.( i don't remember the exact second number).. Your photographs will then be small enough. Make them a .JPG file .. Regards BobH.

Wish I could have loaded the pictures, I have mastered that for the clearest biggest picture you can get, I asked gary9648 in a PM but he did not respond.

Beautiful job! And with all the bells and whistles: full landing gear door set, cowl flaps, scale exhaust, radial engine looking very good and properly set back into the cowl, m.g.s, antennas, etc., etc., etc. Are you going to add the drop tanks? Is the 3 blade prop a static display one or do you use it for flight?
And your subject is what I consider to be THE BEST looking Corsair flying the airshow circuit these days. Come to think of it, I can't recall ever seeing a better looking full scale Corsair in years past, and I've been to a lot of airshows (including Oshkosh).
As you are in Ohio and I am in Michigan, I hope I can see it someday. Maybe keep us advised as to events that it may be flying at?
Luke: I hope you don't think I'm dogging you by following your post, and I apologize ahead of time if I said anything here to offend. I'm not out to make enemies, sometimes people just read things that aren't there.

Big blue shiney planes seem to attract and impress people, you should get a lot of compliments for that great looking bird. Best wishes to you when she flies.

Looks great Gary...Let us know how she flies.
BTW, if you have a digital camera and are able to set the resolution, set it to 640 by 480...
Try to shoot the picture of your pride and joy without grass, or a cluttered background. This will keep the file size smaller. Blacktop is a good background to reduce the size of the photo.
Now if I'd only follow my own advice I wouldn't have to struggle with my own photos .

Thanks to all the kind words, This is all a model builder hopes for. That his peers appreciate his efforts and long hours in the shop. Course those hours are hours of enjoyment.
To answer the question about the pilot. I bought it at Toys R Us.
They have a large line of military action figure collectibles that just happen to be 1/6th scale(12" high). This one comes with the ox mask, parachute, goggles, leather helmet, may west, and flying gloves or bare hands. He sports a leather flying jacket with nose art on the back. Cost you say? How about twenty bucks. Oh and he is completely articulated. You can position him any way you want.
Yes the plane has a little more shine than the real one. I thought I was using enough flattener in the clear, and as you see it was not enough. The plane does have more shine than it looks in the photo though. It is a medium gloss, so Ray Dieckman told me.(the owner. And I to felt that Marines Dream to this modelers eyes was the best looking Corsair paint scheme I had come across. That by no means that I don't appreciate other color schemes. If all of us flew the same color scheme, oh what a boring world we would live in. I can not wait to fly in formation with my buddy F4you's Corsair

Thank you for posting my pictures, I really appriciate it. There were three Corsairs at our DOGS fly-in this last week end. They all looked great!
Two were really neat Byron models, with mine being the lone Top Flight. No Zrolis this year. I think a lot were scared away by the weather. We did get in a full day of flying on Sat, and the special flying times for both warbirds and aerobatics seemed to work. We even had turbines flying with the prop driven warbirds. This really looked neat. WWI,WWII, and present day jets all flying together. My hats off to the pilots.
