Hershey, Hummelstown, Harrisburg, PA Warbird enthusiasts?
Just wondering what the giant scale warbird scene is like in East/Southeast Pennsylvania...
I did click on the AMA website for some info yesterday. It appears that there are a large number of clubs in this specific geographic locale, but the data on the AMA website suggest that for many of the clubs there are engine displacement, weight or noise limits. Not sure if there is a club in this area (<25 miles from Hershey/Hummelstown) that can accommodate large models (i.e. >50 lbs with >100cc engine displacement).
Anybody out there flying "big ones" in this area of the USA?
Thanks,
Noah

That is a good club , I know there are two in Lancaster , one off an old road behind the Costco in Lancaster (big club ) and one that flys weekends only at Denver Pa Votec school .
THeir is also a Jet Rally , big turbine jets that fly 20 mins from Lancaster on a private airport every summer , I dont know what club runs that event but I know many local guys with big jets show up so they have to be flying somewhere.
The bigger challenge that you will find in this area is shoppes , true Hobby Shopes that know and cater to bigger plane are really scarce , virtualy non existant .
You have to go to Allentown to Plane , TRains and lanes , old shop , nice people but they fill the local need outside of mail order .

Noah,
We Have an RC Meet at Golden Age Air museum in Bethel PA (about 12-15 miles from Hershey/Hummelstown) every fall any size airplane applies. We allow any type and size as long as it is Scale having been designed and flown up to and including1941.
A few of us Museum Volunteers fly there in our off time when we're not hauling rides or working on the museum airplanes.

If your just looking for events you can go to the event calender here on rcu and search by state. Quakertown,Pa has a couple of events in the summer, about 60 mi from Hershy, also warbirds over Delaware is a huge event in July. Farview is a great field though id your looking to join a club. Are you moving to Pa?

I'm going to vote for Farview too. I belong there and have been looking to get a 'warbird concensus'.... I would like to put a warbird event together.... Farview really cant be beat... It's definitely a flyer's field with a great crew and facilities. Hope to see you around!

I'll definitely be checking out the Farview club. Looks like a great place to fly... and based on all the apparent jet/turbine activity, hanging out there might be just enough to get me into jets, too.
Yeah, a move to PA is is real possibility at this point. And building and flying models is a central hobby for me, so I was just doing a little leg-work to see what the scene is like in this part of the world.
Thanks for all the advice and info, everyone.

Awesome videos! They do very nicely reveal the lay of the land at the Farview club flying site. Very nice, indeed! Thanks for sharing those.

Farview is the best field in the northeast, Del. RC club has one of the bigest Warbird events (IMAA) in the USA. Iam a member of both clubs.
