Not totally surprising. Tower had the GS P40 on sale last year about this time for also around $400. I assume they drop the price to blow out excess inventory. I went ahead and ordered one with the $50 coupon code so my final price was $314. $85 for shipping though but I'm not complaining at this price. :-)

Boy, that was a fast sale... Ok. Leads me to believe maybe someone did goof on the pricing... But I did receive my order confirmation for $314 (with coupon). I have yet to receive a shipment notification.

My local hobby shop owner called them and confirmed it was an error. Likely, you won't get the plane. Too bad, it was a heck of a deal!

nope, mine shipped already!!! Even if it was an error they made good on those who checked out. It was about a 3 hr window at that price but I can't imagine how many of those slammed the site when the news got out. I know I made 10 calls to buddies while clicking on checkout.

I think they do this on a lot on many products to tease the market. The challenge is who is paying attention....thanks to this great community of members, we were notified on this thread, great guy and thank you!!!

I believe hobby shop cost to be about $520, so you probably got it at cost, or better! Enjoy!

They will get their plane. I got the same sort of deal with a Tower Kaos a few weeks ago. Went on the website and saw it was for $89.99. I thought that was odd but didn't think twice and hit the Buy Now button and in three days it was at my door. A day later it was back at the Tower Talk price of $129.99.

Sounds like some software glitches are going on that make it worth checking in on any favorites.

Boy, you guys made a heck of a find

Yup. Got my shipment notification too. Mine came out to be $394 ($50 coupon for club member). Looks like it shipped out of Nevada so I should get it by tomorrow.

Got mine today. That was fast. I took everything out of the box and noticed two issues. One of the elevators was glued in too tight so it's throw in one direction is very limited. I think I can fix this though. However, the other issue is a hole in the mid-wing section (see pic). Now this too is repairable but what is hard to see in the picture is the entire surrounding area of the hole had dimples all over. It's like it was laying on some rough surface (at the factory?) and it put impressions all over the mid-section.

For the price I paid, I suppose I shouldn't complain but.... Can't help contemplating whether to report to Tower or not.

Tower opened up a west coast warehouse in Arizona a number of years ago.

DLE 55RA update in the Corsair.
My muffler broke at the weld today at about the 30th flight. The engine lost some power and I backed off and set up to land. It ran fine allowing me to land easily. On the ground I could see the muffler expansion chamber was loose.
I plan to call Tower and see what they say since this is a known problem.
Anyway, keep an eye out for leaks or cracks around the muffler mount.

Chris

Does that muffler have a third mounting point? if not when you have the curent one welded add a small plate to thread and add a third leg and make sure you tie it to the engine this keep every thing moving together.

Several guys at my field have had this problem. Got no help from MFG. They finally ordered a Bennett muffler for about $40. There is a thread about it under gas engines.

Check the thread for earlier entries. One guy used the stock muffler with only about 1/8th by 1/2 inch showing. Basically invisible.

@ Bob,
nope this is just a small unit that is bolted to the head. Its wall thickness is too thin for this application. Id prefer an aftermarket muffler but ive cut my cowl for this one and the others are out of stock and more expensive than the stock unit. So my choices are buy nice or buy twice!
I still have not seen any photos of the optional mufflers on Tower. I'll look elsewhere to see the 55RA mufflers.

Chris
The muffler in the pic is a costom built, larger can and baffled in 2 places from Bisson in Canada and the price was about 10.00 USD more than buying a stock raparound unit from any of our state side supplires the reson for the custom was at out field we have a sound problem with a neihbor.

I see, I tested my stock pipe with a meter on my phone and I recall it was about 98db wide open. I may be wrong but thats the figure that comes to mind.
