What you have is a Black Horse Models P-40C. I have one I have converted to a P-36. Control throws:
Ailerons 15mm up and down -30% expo
Elevators 20mm up and down -25% expo
Rudder 30mm left and right -40% expo

CG is between 90-95mm back for leading edge at fuslage. My weight came out to 10.3 lbs. With a DLE 20RA. Plenty of power. The model has too much positive pitch in the wing, but was too much trouble to fix. I flies with a nose down attitude and requires a lot of down elevator trim. Pictures attached. I've got about 30 flights on the plane.

Repositioned the wheel wells to use different strut and retracts.

Here is the under side.

Here it is in British colors India 1942

Default P40

RBean Thank you so much for the information , I just looked it up and you’re exactly right 👍. I guess I should start out with some down in it and trim from there . Nice looking conversion you’ve done . I’ll let you know how the maiden goes as soon as it quits raining

Can you count me in

Recently found a CMP 140 size P40 built but never flown, as in just out the box condition, the builder done a great job putting it together,
I have removed the super tiger engine and will fit an E-motor, fly it on 10s and a 16 x 8 3 blade MAS prop, have just started to fit the motor, E retracts have been fitted and over size 4'' wheels, plan to fit flaps after the motor and ESC is installed, found a CF spinner about the right size and shape from China

Has anyone built the P-40 produced by Century Jet Models? It has allot of work done ahead so it's on it's feet in three hours. 96 inch wingspan and built from the Jerry Bates plans which are super scale.Lots of goodies available like retractable gear, electric or air, painted cockpit and pilot, drop down landing light, split flaps, etc. It comes preprimed. I know, this sounds like I'm selling this model but it's a plane I'm interested in building and looking for some input on how it goes together and flys. Haven't seen anything in the forums so far. Thinking about going electric with this one. I have contacted the new owner of Century Jet Models to get more info and will gladly share anything I find out. If you know about this plane, help me out..
Thanks

Agreed, but I heard Top Flight is no more. Anyone have news on that?

Maybe someone within Robart will have them add this line to their fleet of aircraft. But I want mine unpainted.

With a gas engine, this plane weighs about 40 LBS. It is similar to the ESM Or Yellow but looks like better quality.

Got the P40 to the field and had a successful maiden and 3 more flights, flies nice, since then I have added flaps to slow it down, going to add
some detail and weathering before it goes out again, not fussed on the yellow canopy might have to do something with it

So Century Jet Sales is going back into production with their Jerry Bates designed P-40 among others in a month or so. I am already signed up to get one. Going to have it built as I just plain don't have the time. Going with the Neumotors 8038-140 on 12s and probably a 200 amp esc. The prop will be a ramoser 24-12 three blade. Electric retracts, sliding canopy, split flaps, etc. Should fly at 80 + mph.

Hi Fellow P-40/ P-36 builders!! Here is an example of the earlier P-40. This model is from a Jerry Bates plans with a 81" wing span, covered with Flite-Metal, Sierra gear, and powered with a twin RCGF 50cc

A couple of weeks back the last flight of the P40 one retract folded on landing, the same retract during flight did not want to go up until a couple of cycles, inspection showed it had spit the warm drive out, I am thinking it had not locked down all the way

Made some new twist and turn retracts using standard retracts and some 1/8'' and 1/4'' aluminum, got a couple of flights in and they worked fine, also first time I had used the new flaps, slowed the plane well for landing--very happy with both mods

Mike
