For those interested in a short kit!!!
I have good news, and bad news.
I have found a place that will laser cut all the wing ribs, drag rudder parts and sheeting jigs. The bad news, the price for a short kit will need to go up to cover the additional cost (i guess about $250-300) if you elect for this option.
So, if you are REALLY interested (ie willing to pay about $1750+ shipping (this includes a plywood shipping crate)). Let me know, Tom and I plan to start making kits (if the demand is there) at the end of the summer!! Possibly sooner if people desire or pay for one sooner.

We got 2 more flights in on the Horten #1.5 today. Everything is progressing fairly well. even with the Frise elevons and the a good bit of aileron differential, during left turns the nose refuse to drop into a coordinated turn w/o rudder.. rights turns are "ok". I'm thinking the CG is getting to the point where it may be getting close to the aft edge of the CG limit.
I say this b/c Heiner has mentioned that as the CG moves aft, it will eventually hit a point where its turning characteristics get worse, on the 2nd flight today, i had removed 1 more oz of lead from the nose and the left turn coordination was worse than the first flight. So it may be time to add 2 or 3oz back to the nose to see if that helps the coordination issue.
Heiner, any suggestions?
Other than that, one of the nose gear doors ripped off after the right hand roll again. The nose gear doors have been fighting us through its entire life. I ordered some METAL door hinges this time, so the only way its coming off again, is if the door itself breaks!
Tom got some video from his cell phone. the quality sucks, but I think he's better in keeping the Horten in frame with his phone than the camcorder, i'll let you guys decide. lol

And for those local to Fredericksburg, Va. The Horten will be attending Warbirds and classics over fredericksburg!

Here's some good video of one of your flights Thomas, starts at 7:30 in the video. Looks like it's flying quite nicely! Looks great, congrats again on the build!
EDIT: sorry I missed that you had linked it already, oops.

You made the cover of Highflight magazine! (It's my photo) Inside, you're featured in their article on WOD (my father Roger and I provided the photos) and there's an article on the full scale Horton, too.

I did, it has a new home in California, but there is the probability in building another for myself in the new year. I have regretted selling it, but it wasnt getting any flight time due to the constant cross winds here. But now that i have visited a few other flying clubs, i have found a few that dont have as severe of cross winds as the others.
So once i get around to building horten #4, ill be making some slight changes. All parts will be either laser cut or cnc routed. The center section will go on a bit of a diet, i suspect i can remove a pound from its weight, and i'll be using 110mm fans.
And speaking of larger fans, Horten #3 (the first one sold to a customer) is getting built this winter. His center section was a full poun lighter than Tom's desert came one and almost 2 pounds lighter than mine. The impressive thing is, there is still some room to remove another pound or so from it.
Oh, i also bought a cnc router from the sale of mine, so i may be building a scale nose gear leg for my next one

That was just bad timing. I was helping the early birds get unstuck from the mud when the maiden took place. It was getting pretty dark, too. I think I might have one or two half-ways decent shots just before it landed.

I saw Tom flying the Horton while I was on the other side of the field - and the Horton only has a 4 minute battery. It took a few minutes to run to my camera, change lenses, and get to the flight line. I arrived just in time to capture the landing:

If you like the Horton, be sure to pick up the January issue of Model Aviation. It's featured in the Warbirds Over Delaware article. I wrote the article and included as much as I could about the unusual build process, flying characteristics, etc. Tom and Thomas' Hortons are amazing models.

Unfortunately not, i relocated to FL with a new job position and the distance and timing just doesnt work out. Not to mention i havent yet been able to even think about doing a new Horten. I have been working on a set of twin V-173 flying pancakes that should be flying later this summer. Next up after their completion will be to finish my F14 and begin work in a 1/4 TA-152 design and scratchbuild.

Will a Kolm fit totally inside? It is hopelessly tall....
A radial is easier to cool in a Ta 152, I would imagine. You can fake the radiator looks in the front, and still let air through the fake radiator....

I dont think it will, and therefore mentioned Moki. Nobody kan see its a radial anyway, and the sound is cool.
Will you build a H or a C model? The C model does not have Soaring wings, hehe.
I think many will be interested in a Ta 152, since a Moki will fit.

Kwik,
Surprisingly the Kolm IL100 would fit flush with the bottom of the fuselage, but at only 8.8HP (6.6kw) and a max RPM of 6,000 I am slightly concerned it wouldn't have the power to pull the airplane around with authority. The IL135 would definitely have the power at over 10HP, but the cylinder heads would protrude 3/4" out of the bottom of the fuselage. Unfortunately it looks like ZDZ no longer make an inline engine. The Outer diameter of the fuselage is 11.25" So allot of motor choices would fit. The 3W110-iR2 would be a good choice as well with only the spar plug caps being exposed, but cooling being a problem.
now to combine a Kolhm with a gear reduction and a scale prop would be AWESOME!
