If the power compairson is any help Ihave a Moki 2.1 in mine and it has plenty of power. It will loop from level flight and has plenty of speed for me. it mounts in the cowl without any cutting of the cowl, and Ihave two exhausts in the scale location. Other than being difficult to start inverted, I love it!

Photos on request.

What kind of sound are you looking for? Just a typical Gas engine sound or something like a 4 stroke sound? Any of the 50cc gas engines will fly the plane well.

G-45/Q-52 perfect fit....for old schoolers (i.e. not big into the DA's, 3W's or DLE's for this size A/C). Zenoah/Quadra have good bang for the buck.

Ok, here are a few photos of how Idid my exhausts. Ihad to change the angle of the pipes from the muffler. A friend of mine helped on that with some expert aluminum welding. Also a fedw finished photos. for anyone interested, Idid an extensive build on this model at the following link:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_8836329/tm.htm

The dummy radial was from Aero Tech.

Yellow aircraft warbirds just dont fly very well in states that have a "Z" in their name. Therefore Mr Tailskid, , you MUST bring that big jug to Birmingham so that it will be assured a proper home, .....oh yeah Jerry, be sure to go ahead and install a new G62 on it first!!! LOL

So you got one coming huh?COOLMAN!!!
You going to go full house and deck her all out with all the bells and whistles?
Sounds good for sure brother.
I just pulled the trigger today ona Top Flite 60 size Corsair arf at Tower, at $199 ( after all the promo codes with free shipping) I couldnt build the kit and cover it for that, so I said what the heck, Merry Christmas to me

Sorry, but the shipment cannot go to a state that has the weather you guys just had! So, it's sunny, 65 degrees and wind gusting to 2 MPH....better put on Jeans and gloves to go flying

Yeah, I'd like to deck it all out...next CO$T will be retracts - thinking of Sierra's but they are 'SPENDY' and I might have to sell my 'stash' of planes to afford them.

Concerning the Corsair....we have one flying here with a DLE20 and it flys well, but for some reason, it LOVES to bounce on almost all landings - might be pilot induced - he can land only with two notches of flaps, if he goes to full flaps the plane gets twichey....is that a word????

You going to put some retracts in that bird, they REALLY need them

Here is what "MY" space in the garage looks like after my wife's garage sale....

My Yellow P-47. I was going to put in a Taurus 3.2 engine but that engine became involved in an accident. So I opted to put in my Laser 300 twin with scale exhausts. Much like Dash I'm glad I did it.

The Dummy engine is from Aeroteck.. same as Dashes. Makes a lot of difference sitting up front right behind the prop. Mine has a full interior etc with sliding canopy etc.
Pretty simple plane to build I think. Took as much time with the cockpit and canopy as the wings! lol..

There are other options for good gears other than Sierra. Give Lenny a call his prices are better and his gears are strong.

Mine is powered with an Axi 5345 running in 10s. Weighs 24 lbs. and flies better than the gas powered P-47's I've had. Plenty of power. Working on different props to see if we can increase the speed a little.

My yellow jug, razorback, used a 3w-50 and spring air gear. Rear carb was my first and it was not an issue.
Engine ran great and the speed and power is so cool.

While we are on the subject of the Yellow Jug, does anyone have a clever mounting method for the cowl other than stock method? With the dummy engine etc. it becomes a problem getting to the rear nylon cowl bolts. I'm thinking of a gooder, aka easier, method!

A stock Zenoa G-45 WILL NOT fit in the cowl without carb modification. The angle of the card is towards the curve of the cowl.

However a G-62 will fit completly in the cowl with most mufflers.
If you use a Bennett muffler, you will lose a very slight amount of power if you run it to the scale location.
You can dump it right out the bottom and it will be loud and fast too.

Weight is perfect to balance it also. You need 6.5 to 7 pounds ahead of the firewall to balance it anyway.

Mount it with TWO of the stock mounting plates that come with Zenoa62 and add a longer prop hub to fit(Sierra).
With the engine that far back, you will have PLENTY of room for a dummy engine up front.

Get rid of the way that Yellow tells you to mount the cowl, and use the Aerotech way. TWO flush mounts on the top in the anti glare panel painted to match and you will never notice them. 4 bolts around the bottom the same way.

Add your Aerotech cowl accessories and you are on your way.

Rebel, thank you for that tip. You don't happen to have a picture of the Aerotech cowl mounts do you? That sounds interesting.

BobH, from my gallery here is my jug, cowl mounting.
I used four aluminum 90 degree brackets at 2, 10 and 5,7 o'clock positions.
Then used a rubber grommet with brass insert in it from taylors Do it Center.
Hole in aluminum is drilled large enough to insert the rubber grommet. From the outside a 4-40 bolt with nylon washer is used.
When tightened the bolt pulls the insert and expands the rubber behind the aluminum mount bracket to lock it down.

Had to relieve cowl for pitts style muffler. But used high temp car engine paint ( auto zone) to match stripes.
Nose art was printed picture, 3M spray glue to attach, then clear coat spray a day later with two light coats.

Here is an Aerotech Ki-84 that has the cowl mounted with flush bolts top and bottom X 4. You can just see the top bolt right behind the gun cannon where the boot of the spark plug is. The bottom on in right on the camo demarcation line. You can't even see it.
