Vibration absorbers installed.I used the DA-50 mount install template to line up the holes and I think they lined up perfectly with the stand offs.

more pix of recent work. also some dry fit of the wings again.
Last two items I need that Im waiting for are the custom fit wrap around muffler from that'll for zero cowling and the retracts.
I had to return the first set of retracts 'cause one side stopped working.
Picture of the servo/tank tray below -everything in place for shake down(trial) run. Nothing is permanent for Im sure I have to move things around. The circuit on the left of the fuel tank is the Mini Thor Power Expander Ignition Kill.

I use a trammel line to measure the wingtip-to-tail dimensions. How does the laser do this?

I would have to agree. I've built a few ESM planes....I would definitely check the distance from wingtip to tail on both sides to double check.

Looks good. I want one of these but would have to modify that tail wheel...and make a sliding canopy. I wonder if there's a cockpit kit in the works??

Ram,

I have one of Earls Zero tail wheels I'm using, They're very lightweight and very well made, and look quite scale.

It the lower unit in the picture.

Thanks gents. I'm just waiting for the factory retractable tail wheel. They came out with the mains but the tails are delayed so for now I installed the stock unit. The ones you have above Casey are nice.

you don't.. I use the laser to make sure I find the center of the fuselage forward to aft (nose to tail).

Mike,
Is it my eyes or is the tail wheel mounted too far forward for scale? Is that per the plans? Scale location would put it at the rudder hinge. Just wondering

No, it's not just you... and it's very noticeable. Everything else from a distance looks good though! Thanks glazier808, I think I'll follow your lead If I get one of these.

What's the final weight going to be? What did shipping cost from Sarasota, Florida to Virginia? If I bought the ESM FW190 D9 from TBM the shipping cost from Sarasota, Florida to Kentucky is $183.88.....which is a deal breaker. Apparently the D9 comes in a B-I-G box (fuse is 82.5" long).

WOO, $183.88 for shipping is a lot of money! But the box for the ESM Zerofighter is much smaller than their FW190 D9, should be much cheaper.

SUFFERED SETBACKS ON THE RETRACTS  Her MLG(Main Landing Gear), the optional factory electric retracts are not performing 100% They would do 4 cycles then 1 side quits working!!. Cant have that when I actually need them to deploy  TBM and I trouble shot both electrical harness and the elec retracts to no avail. so after returning twice for replacement, I just turned in the whole set for refund.

Im now working with Robart to get 631RSE and 671 L&R. Theirs even have down and up locks and as everyone knows been proven through the years.

Good choice, Mike. The ONLY issue I have had with Robart airs over the years is their plastic "tee's." Other than that, very reliable. And, if you use their airline restrictors, the retraction and extension cycles are realistically slow.

Default RE: ESM ZERO BUILD

After checking CG the other a week ago, found out that I'm lucky enough to only need around 1.4lbs of wt up front. Since then my dilemma is where to place/hang the weight since I have the vib aborbers on the engine mount hence making the stand offs carry the extra load is not an option.

I also changed my plan from having a single source of power(LIFE 3200mah) (with the use of 42% Power/ignition expander) to having separate ignition source since I might as well make the weight I need a "useful weight" so I opted for the heaviest reliable A123 battery out there to make as my ginition batteries. "C" cell NIMH.

So after many nights of pondering on where to put the weight(ignition batteries) I finally made this tray below. The plane is upside down in these pictures, so the tray is actually on top of the engine.

why not use ESM AIR TO AIR RETRACTS for ESM BEARCAT; they are scale too with offset struts and probably the same length too. can anyone verify that;

Mike,

If you haven't gotten a spinner yet, you might try the one from yellow aircraft...it's nice and heavy and I'm sure this plane needs nose weight.
I picked one up and it's quite nice.

thanks for tips Casey! That is a nice spinner and has the scale look for the zero. YA wants $85 for it. As u know zero and the focke wulf are the only two that have that curves of the spinner.

thanks for the suggestion but i dont want to mess with tanks, hoses, valves/servo and air. Besides i like the scLe deployment speeed of the electrics. Appreciate it of course.
