Should I use a larger servo or what??
All advice welcome... Thanks
I had the same problem and after much trial and error found (after bugging the guys at Hitec) that the servos are analog and they are fighting to achieve the position the signal wire from your receiver is telling it where to be... Most receivers have a more detailed or hi-definition signal to get servos at a precise point... sometimes analog servos just can't hit that spot so they buzz.

I found that a buzzing servo is also eating more amperage than a servo at rest or one that has hit that arc instructed. I got rid of the buzz by switching to a higher grade receivers and better digital servos.

I know that many will say that they've been using 645's since dirt was clean and haven't had any issues but I can tell you there is a point a buzzing servo will chew through 500MaH on a 15minute flight. IMHO...

Hmm, the mystery buzz. Some of mine buzz once in a while for no apparent reason. Like I said, and this is only my experience, my digitalis buzz and twitch ALOT more than the analogs. I think it's safe to say, even in the case of ARFS, no two planes are exactly alike. If you know they're not binding, and your geometry is correct, and your end points are set, and it still buzzes a bit, probably not too much to worry about. Just my two cents for what it's worth. Good luck getting to the bottom of it. Steve.

Makes sense that they use more juice, buy my experience is no problem after several hundred flights.

I hear of a lot of people having flutter issues. I guess I've just been lucky so far. Never had it on any of my warbirds. I hope I didn't just jinx myself.

I would recommend 6 inches of pitch. 8 inches is carrying the airframe too fast, obviously.

Be careful with the DLE20 - it wont do well if it revs too high - they will come apart if they get to 10,000 rpm too much, from the posts I have seen here.

Also - take a hard look at the elevator hinges and pushrod system, and the servo for that matter. If there is much flex or looseness this will contribute to flutter.

Obvisly the pic's are out of order but after the Carbon fiber matte and the sheeting U will cut the gear door opening. My question is will you use the cut out material as the gear doors or fabricate the doors? Also by what method will they be opened and closed. Thanks

Lifer, there is no binding at all thru the full range of the flap. I tried setting end points but it doesn't make any difference where they are set. Going to try a different servo.. Thanks

DLE's 20's run great on 16x8's and 17x6's. In my experience, Xoars pull the best, but APC's do well, also.

Brothers,

I apologize for my absence; I have been on the road the last 3 weeks for work which affords me very little time for much else but work. I do check the site when I can and do my best to update any new member requests that I get (I am sure I will miss someone, if I do just e-mail me directly). Please keep up the great posts and sharing your P-47 secrets as you build those fantastic Jugs!

I'm on my second H-9 P47-60 with a DLE 20. I use them for Warbird Racing. Both do 108 MPH straight and level. I have never had a Flutter problem !
