Corsair Short kits for Top Flite .60 and Giant scale are done, now to get working on the P-47 Giant Scale short kit. This is actually fun to do now. Now where did I stash those plans.

Tganks in anticipation.....
P47 is my favorite warbird because its so forgiving! I have the Tarheel hal version too (with Robart Air retracts) but something went wrong on the 3rd flight. Not a mark on it after the belly landing but I just ordered the electric actuators. Eventually belly landing must wear on the belly!!!
I have the giant TF P40 too with electric robarts and they've never failed .
Haven't decided whether I will convert the p47 tailwheel too or just leave it locked down.

I have Robart electric retracts in my H9 60cc Corsair and have had lots of issues with the actuators. I would go pneumatic and Serra Giant if you can.

I have several sets of Robart pneumatics and no major issues to date except the air tanks would spin and tie the airlines in to knots. That was cured with a few dabs of Shoo Goo. The gears are sturdy and reliable. Nothing wrong with the electric version but the air retracts have been fine.
IMHO

I changed mine over to mechanical, no problems and a little cheaper also.

Have a Hanger 9 150 with the servo driven retracts. Found a second set at a swap just in case, but the originals still work very well. Having a good servo is key to making them work right, need one that can be endpoint set like the Spektrum A7040.

If your transmitter has the feature, I believe you can also slow down the servo speed on those A7040's. Looks a lot more realistic having a 5 or 6 second transit speed.

My JR does, but the servo speed is unaffected, and they are already slow. That is the one thing about all retract servos I have used, speed was unchangeable, but these do have adjustable end points which are needed for the H9 retracts.

What are you powering it with?

2S Life pack. Another plus for the A7040, they work with the 6.6 volt packs, most other retract servos are 4.8v only.

I found that my servo is 4.8v only, I thought it was cooked because it didn't move on 6volt tried an old 4.8 and volia action.

Question? When my retracts are down the rods are tight and gear locked, when they go up and locked the rods bend when in final position. Why?

Slightly too much throw. Are the servo(s) buzzing in the up and locked position. If not, don't worry about it.

No buzzing of servo so I think I will just leave it as you suggested.

After 1 year I can say that I have complete P-47 cockpit kit. That one is designed for TopFlite giant scale P-47. They come with all needed parts and right scale. You can, that there are included P-47 style rudder pedal. No P-51 pedals, like some sellers add to their P-47 cockpits.

Default Please add me to the brotherhood

Hello everyone, I’d like to be included in the brotherhood. Currently in my hangar is the eflite P47 “Kansas Tornado” foamy for flying at home. I have the Top Flite .60 bubble canopy flying a dle 20 re and the Hangar 9 20cc P-47 razorback dressed up as Pengie II with a Saito FG21. Last night I placed on pre-order the Top RC Models 96” WS P-47. In the maintenance locker, I have the UMS 125cc 5 cylinder radial, PowerBox Champion driven by PBR-9D receivers, plus all associated hardware ready to go just need the airframe. I have the Top RC A6M Zero powered with a UMS 75cc 5 cylinder radial and love it! So I’m stoked at the idea of the 125-5 in the Thunderbolt. It’s kinda funny, my Dad was a P38 driver for the 459th FS out of Chittagong, India. The 459th was part of the 80th FG. In the group there was a squadron of P38s, a squadron of P40s (perhaps you’ve seen the big skull on the nose of some historical photos and some P40 RC aircraft with the same) and a squadron of P47s (one of the decal/sticker sets included with the hangar 9 P47 ARF kit is for this squadron BUT you have to get the European invasion stripes off the airplane or you end up with a *******ized P47 confused whether it should be flying CBI or ETO). The P47 is by far my favorite single engine fighter of WWII. Of course I’m a fan of the P38 but the RC world has so few offerings plus I have fallen for the Saito and UMS radials. If for some crazy reason I can’t get the 125-5 to work in my Top RC P47, I have Saito FG 90r3 all broken in sitting on the shelf next to it. I mentioned earlier I had the 75-5 in a zero, I also have a 90-3 in a Hangar 9 Ki43 Oscar. They sound and perform great!!
I hope I have the credentials to be excepted into the brotherhood. Through reading the forum, I’ve come to the conclusion it is already very well represented by some very fine individuals that I’d be honored to be included with.

Since I revised the P-51 D-15+ instrument panel design I knew, that I will have to revise also the P-47 instrument panel. Very happy, that I did it, because I found some mistakes. Some more details will come later on that new design.

Default P47 Instrument panel

Jiri,
I would struggle to see anything wrong with the P47 instrument panel you sent to me! 😎

Hi Nigel!
When spend hours over many pictures of P47 instrument panels, blueprints and replicas you will start to see many differents between each block of P-47.
BTW the Corsair instrument panel will be done in days.
