OK, count me in too please.
I have a VQ models P-51 I plan on getting airworthy this year (will post pictures soon). A Rich Models Voodoo Mustang 60 size ARF still in the box and a Jack Stafford P-51 sport racer kit waiting to be built.
Thinking about out getting a TF 60 size Mustang kit one of these days too.

I'd like to join... I have a Chinese ARF kit bash (copy of a World Models I think) stripped and glassed and painted with Rust-O-Leum 2X. 81 inch wingspan with Robart 635's and a EME55 with electric start. The plane is the "goto" bird in my hangar. It flies like a champ. Here's video of it at the Blackstar flightline showing off the starter.

lancairmustang,
Congratulations on starting the P-51 Brotherhood! This should also be a VERY popular thread. I have an Original Byron P-51 that is waiting for me to start on; however it is 5th in line behind other projects.
I wish all of the P-51 Brotherhood members much success in all they build and fly!

Cafeen Man, my mustang was modeled after the restored and polished Cripe's A Mighty 3rd, getting the color and finish is the hardest part of doing that plane in automotive urethane base coat/clear coat paints with a polished finish.

Ralph,
Thanks for the info on the canopy. I think if I have that, the rest of the conversion will be a lot easier. Have you installed the DLE yet? Any fitment problems? I'm also planning on using the same engine in mine. Any photos of the canopy install?
Thanks again,
Henry

My favorite looking and flying plane is the P-51. I like the B/C model best, but hard to find good kits. I currently have an Aerotech P-51D "Bunnie" a Red Tail and a Top Flight P-51D on the table under construction. Not sure what this one will be yet
Hoping to build a B or C version one day too.

I had a P-51 in Tuskegee Airmen theme which unfortunately had an accident so I am building a new one. This is the old one I had: http://www.***********s.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=69571
I will be building one based of the ARF and using a DA50 and scale Keleo Exhaust. Will be glassing it and painting it.
Already have all the materials but haven't started the build. Will create a thread once I start!

Hi Ralph, thanks! The pilot is the bust that came with the Top Flite ARF. He looks pretty good in there, but some of the Mustang guys think he's a little too big... I'll probably use him, but will trim a bit off of the bottom to make him sit down a little further.

brockettman, My p-51 TF ARF did not come with a pilot. Oh well. Take a look at the full size P-51 B pictures with the pilots showing up well. You will notice that their heads almost touch the top of the canopy. I wouldn't cut yours down if I were you.
